The problems is Venezuela didn't start when the oil prices tanked. It started when socialism was implemented there.

If you can, buy property there soon.
They don't have property rights there. The govt can confiscate any property they want without compensation.

A socialistic society in the US will end more like Venezuela, and nothing close to the country (Norway) that they always mention.

I agree that socialism has no place in America but I'm curious why you think it would be a Cuba/Venezuela outcome instead of a European outcome.

Most of the political leaders pushing for socialism in the US are highly educated ethnic Europeans whereas Venezuela was lead by under educated lower class revolutionaries.

We have a large portion of this that the European chaps don't have; at least before the refugees started rolling in.

They are a huge producer of oil with no buyers. The oil they produce is of poor quality.

There are plenty of buyers, I worked at a refinery which processed Venezuelan crude - refinery was equipped with a coker. The price for the low grade crude is adjusted downwards from west Texas intermediate.

Hold up. We have a heavily controlled republican house, senate and governor on the state level.

The "outcome" in Europe is implosion through immigration, and we already have far more of that than they do.

Sweden is scheduled to become a third world country by 2030. Denmark's touted health care system is failing, and the rest of them have had to shut off benefits more than once.

It's all smiles and sunshine until the freeloaders start pouring in.

This, and it's a distinguishing factor between reasonably successful socialist countries and the disasters.

Maduro rose to power through his revoluntionary zeal more than anything else. Before his political career he was a bus driver.
