Anyone have a good recommendation for a vacuum cleaner?
For a house (carpet, rugs, & wood)
Might prefer an upright (ease of maneuvering) but open to suggestions

I've found that they all suck.

My wife wanted to slap the shite out of me for buying her a vacuum for her birthday.
But she loves that Dyson now. Would highly recommend it.

Let me go ask Guadalupe which one she prefers.

I bought a Miele canister and it's the best I've ever used. The bagless vacuums don't work that well I've found.

I've had both Dyson and Shark.
Shark wins hands-down. Easiest vacuum to operate that I've ever used

Panasonic. Our Panasonic made Kenmore lasted 15 years. Sadly, Kenmore is no longer made by Panasonic.

Shark. Performs like a Dyson, fraction of the cost.

Set up an appointment and they'll show you the greatest vacuum ever made!

Go to a good vacuum store and you'll see Miele, Royal, Oreck, Kenmore, Sanitaire, Panasonic, and maybe a commercial grade Koblenz or Bissell. You won't see Dyson or other overpriced gimmicks unless they are in the junk bin from customers that traded them in.

How difficult is it to operate a vacuum?!

Oreck is the best one that I've used. If you don't mind changing bags, I'd get that

What about a roomba? I want one, does anyone recommend them?

I have a Neato robot vacuum and it's awesome. Would recommend.

I have a Neato as well. Its great for consistent maintenance, especially if you have a dog, but I wouldn't say it deep cleans like a great full sized vacuum.
It does fit under our couches and dressers though which is fantastic.
We also have a Shark and it is very solid. Sucks harder than a phillipino hooker with lockjaw.
