meh...union speak. Figured from your posts you'd know what I meant.

Example....co-worker was found sleeping. He was fired. Union saved his arse but he's on a one year probation. Anything beyond accepted tardiness or call ins in that year and he is gone permanently. He was fired but was given a 2nd chance.

Better?

You're the one that said it's not worth the trouble most of the time to get rid of them.

That is how their managers view the situation. They would rather go to the next guy and just make them work harder.

Why bring in more people that are harder to replace than a contractor that you can kick off the site at will and use as needed?

They aren't bringing in any more, just finding guys on site that will do it.

Most of the issues were addressed. Most of the Union workers even agree that this is BS.

No doubt. Will be surprised if this USW management crew is reelected, or if a lot of these sites stay USW.

How does a site kick the USW out?

Vote to move to another union, or decertify all together.

There's been alot of talk about this at least with the people I work with directly it only takes 30% to petition to labor board for an election 50% we won't need one. I'm all for tring to find someone to better represent us. It wouldn't be easy but I believe it would be worth it.

Have you called an notified your manager you would like to return to work? I'm sure that would be the first step in getting the ball rolling.

Nah. Give it a couple of weeks and I'd be tempted to. That said, I'll more than likely be dropping out of the Union once the smoke clears.

I went by there last night to fill out the insurance form. That'll be my last trip to Norco until I return to work.

We have talked about finding someone other than USW to represent us also. Apparently we will lose our union hall if we go with another affiliation. I say let em have it.

I may be wrong but to decertify or change representation you need 30% petition to NLRB to hold an election or over 50% no election needed but you would have to have all on board with new repesentation as well there's some other forms as well and periods in contract when this can take place.

Do we have to be represented as in Norco, Convent, etc.? Could we possibly go the Geismar route (non Union)? I don't know enough about it to know if this would be feasible/a good idea.

It would be alot harder to go that route I don't no how many would support it. I would, but different strokes for different folks u know. I'd be happy if we could just bring in a smaller union less room for corruption. The numbers game doesn't really matter as much now days anyway.

Everyone is willing to decertify today, when the contract is signed they lose the fire in their belly.

I hate the labor act. These Union scum should have been fired three weeks ago.
