USPS not scanning an item in 7 days/no activity...?

I ordered something from eBay for Christmas for the wife and it came from Australia. USPS is showing it arrived in NYC on December 9th at their processing facility and it has had no activity on the tracking number since then.
Am I fricked? I've been on hold with USPS for 20 minutes.

My wife order a toy on Nov 24th. Current USPS scan shows that it is at current origin (China) for departure dated Dec.1. No movement or activity yet and still no package. WTF.

Sometimes it shows no activity then it just shows up at your house. This also happens with the parcel services.

Its in customs baw. That's next level frickery right there. They can place penalties on international shipments and hold it until a responsible party (will depend on how purchasing agreement is worded) pays said levied penalty.

Ordered something that came from China on Amazon on 11/25/16. There was no activity until just a few days ago when it finally showed up in the states. Got it today.

Calm down. They do this to my husband's orders and he goes batshit crazy. Then it shows up at the door the next day or two. It's on its way.
