Used Lyft last night for the first time

In San Francisco for a wedding. Used Lyft last night for the first time. Took about 3 minutes once the initial request was sent for the driver to get there. 15 minute trip cost about $13 with tip included. Pretty sweet. I hope they get to operate in NOLA one day.

This has become the norm. I live right in the middle of Uptown too - they won't leave downtown if there are tourists around for the most part. I usually end up walking to Tipitina's go get one but that really shouldn't be necessary.

it will put good hard working taxi drivers out of business. Now anyone can be a taxi driver and it will lower cab drivers wages. It will be the end of the professional taxi driver as we know it.

I support the free market, which favors the consumer. Zero fricks given, I'm fed up with Nola cabbies. If you can't cut it, too bad

I'll still sleep at night.

Used it multiple times in Houston and its great. One of the girls that picked us up had a big bag of starbusts to share. Don't think I have ever or will ever have a cab ride half as nice or entertaining as that one.

Lyft and Uber are awesome. Took Uber to Dulles and was 15 less than a cab plus no tip. Driver used to drive for various international embassies and a total pro. He had left his old gig for Uber because he was able to make more money and work when he wanted. A win-win.

I use both Lyft and Uber with the former being used more frequently.

So a crappy service with poor conditions will be replaced by a newer, cleaner, more pleasant and convenient service? Services, goods, etc get phased out all the time due to not keeping up with the times or being replaced by something better.

maybe if cabbies and cab companies treated their customers with any sort of respect, they wouldn't be in this spot.
I actually think this is going to force medallion owners to up their game. Actually show up when they are called, not refuse fares b.c they don't like where you are going, and drive a little saner. Cab companies can make these changes, they just don't want to as their business has been protected by the gov't for a long time.
I love uber, but I will switch back to cabs. I take about 10-15 rides a month on uber, I love their product but if cabs can up their game I will share my rides with them.

Wise is trolling. Not sure what his hardon is for trolling car service threads but whatever floats your boat.

What does this mean? I'm unfamiliar with it, but couldn't imagine taking transportation from someone without leaving a tip. Unless you mean the drivers literally keep what is charged..

tigerwise is just a troll. he has the same response in every thread about lyft/uber. i'd just ignore him. it wasnt even funny the first time he did it, yet he's managed to run even a stupid troll into the ground.
