Purchased two new vehicles with it in 2014. Would do again.
Dealer tried to frick with us on the first one at the last minute when I reviewed the final numbers by saying the price I got from the USAA agreement didn't exactly match the car because the car had additional options but I threatened to walk away and they gave me the USAA price.
Purchased a second identical car a month later for same price and was very smooth (only to later learn it was so much easier because they got to retain $500 for a repeat buyer incentive). However, was still an overall positive asset for someone who doesn't want to spend weeks hassling with a car purchase.
Probably got a touch better than the truecare price.
If you are looking new, I suggest buying a 2016 in December or January.
Just be prepared to stand your ground (and check everything). I don't necessarily fault them, but salespeople are greatly incentivized to fib/screw you.
Tough business and you have to expect the unexpected battle.
Have to do it, but I'd rather get a root canal than deal with buying a car.
