Use the price you get from this program as a bargaining tool with a dealer. This combined with the tips from Will Cover got me a great deal. Ended up going with the dealer's price as it was a better deal.

Link to his tips is:

Most American manufacturers have additional rebates for USAA members, so yes you can.

Bought my wifes car with them. I believe it cost 200 to have them find the car she wanted for the price including tt&l.Found the car she wanted a day later, they sent us a check and we did a test drive. Walk out with it about 45 minutes later. Best experience I've had buying cars in 30 years. They also knock a .5% off the loan rate by using them for the search.

used it two times in the past 6 years or so and both times saved money and the process went off without one hitch. Very easy and no haggling required unless you want it cheaper than the USAA price.

Yes, especially for low rate loans

You can. If nothing else it gives you a good idea of a decent price. I got a quote from them last time I bought and the information helped me to get an even lower price. I ended up not even using it.

It used to be legit until they partnered with Truecar. I got an FJ for 5000 below sticker 6 years ago. Bought a new Tacoma LTD 4 months ago and I got a much better deal negotiating for my self this time.

TLDR;

It used to be legit. Not anymore

I used it about 6 months ago to negotiate a better price, I would say it is a worth it to get the coupon from a negotiating standpoint.

Not nearly as good as it was several years ago. It is basically the same thing as just going through True Car now. I still use it because it is easy and pretty good.

I find that you can get a little bit lower than these "supplier" rates, but you really have to bust arse for those few extra dollars. the beauty of using a service like them is that you don't have to spend all of that time jacking with the salesman.

I tried using it a few weeks ago. Unfortunately there are no participating Toyota dealers in the BR area

Exactly. This needs to be stated. It's a scam. USAA is now working with the dealerships through TrueCar and everyone's getting a cut along the way.

Use the quote as a starting point. Email a few dealers and get them to beat it

It's tied into True Car IIRC. I bought a new car at the end of last year and tried the USAA thing. Ended up doing better on my own but I used it as a benchmark.
