I'd say I'm glad our side is the one who has it, but somehow that is only a little comforting.

For now. What's disturbing is that eventually you'll be able to do this with off the shelf technology. I heard a futurist talk about this. Eventually there will be the potential for DIY nuclear and bioweapons.

So what happens if you're shooting at an aerial target and you miss? does the beam just go into space? Does it dissipate after x amount of time/distance?
