I knew both towns had very little to offer outside each respective college but DAMN!

Here is a link to Florida's original argument about urban centers, which is much more nuanced and thought-provoking than the Nashville-centric article linked above.

Sounds to me like their whining about lack of diversity and reurbanization of the upper middle class from the suburbs. This is in fact pushing out the lower and lower middle class mostly lower socioeconomic classes. I fail to see why they consider this a crisis. Not every city and town wants to be a ghetto for the impoverished.
