also, CNBC is not terrible - definitely the most centrist of the NBC platforms

Reuters. Bias rating to center.

I also pick and choose which videos to watch from Vice. Many times their foreign affairs reports are quite unbiased and compelling. Their warzone reporting is one of my favorites to watch while eating lunch.
I really enjoy Vice articles on the conflict in the Ukraine

Voice of America is surprisingly fact-based and balanced, especially compared to MSM sources these days. It's government funded, therefore at risk for being shut down after next election cycle if they deviate too far from center. Don't expect VOA to expose government waste or corruption however.

Used to be, surprisingly, Al Jezeera. But now that it’s shutdown, probably BBC is as close as you’re going to get

I'm sure you can make some arguments here and there, but this is a pretty decent analysis.

News organizations who have been around for a long time and who have been recognized by their industry as outstanding performers are typically safe bets. You don't hang around that long and become that successful without some sense of journalistic integrity.
Now, of course, most of these news organizations would be labeled the "fake news MSM" by some. But keep in mind that the people who often say this have no issue depending on a website that's been around for 5 years and call it the "real news".
One thing to keep in mind is that, given the current POTUS and the polarization he's created, negative stories about him don't automatically mean they're some leftwing outlet. Sometimes the facts are the facts, as uncomfortable as they may be for some people.

There aren't any. Everyone single one is bought by some political or social interest.

If you have a solid knowledge of civics and history you should be able to separate bullshite from truth.

A straight up news feed like UPI will probably work although even that is somewhat curated and therefore imperfect.
The real risk though is our own prejudices. We like to look for what we don't want to see so we can pick it apart, and look for what we do like so we can uncritically forward it to all our friends so show how right we are.
Edited to add that sites that charge a fee and cater to academics or industry professionals are generally much better as well.

Local news tends to be okay.
Local news is primarily a sales tool for the local community. Always pushing whatever is going on for financial reasons. It's like a 30 minute commercial. Even sports and weather will include a "should be a great time to get out and spend". That is itself a bias. Also, local news always promoting "a cause" (feed the poor, help the kids, rescue a pet).
So it's just more subtle bias than the in your face of 24 news channels today.

Reuters and NPR for me.
I find the Up First and Politics podcasts from NPR do a good job at giving the facts with little to no bias.

BBC seems unbiased when it comes to American issues
I love when PBS has the Foreign news guys on with Charlie Rose. They usually give him honest answers, and don't really try to sway you to think one way, or another. I guess they can be more objective, because they don't have a dog in the fight. Sometimes they seem excited to talk about our news. News people in the U.S. just want to say, or do, something that will get talked on other networks/outlets. U.S. media people want to be part of the story. They want to create a "fan base" that will buy books, videos, etc. they create.
Foreign media people may be waiting to see how things work out in the U.S. before they give an opinion. They know whatever happens here, will eventually make it's way to them. If they hold off on forming an opinion about something that's going on here, they can be right in their own country, when it's their turn to go through the same thing.

The thread titles on the Poliboard are all 100% pure, unvarnished, truth.

According to my FIL, who watches 20 hours of FoxNews a day, insists that the channel is the only fair and balanced news show out there.
I simply try to tell him that FoxNews caters to conservatives as much as CNN caters to liberals, but he'll have none of that talk.
