How did he/she have contact with kids?

Evidently he has 4 or 5 kids, USA Today made it sound like he had contact with a lot of kids, but it was just his kids. They are quarantined currently.

This story keeps getting better and better.

Where are all the idiots on here who said it was absolutely 100% IMPOSSIBLE for ebola to show up in the states?

quote:

Thomas Eric Duncan explained to a nurse Friday that he was visiting the U.S. from Liberia, but that information was not widely shared, said Dr. Mark Lester, who works for the hospital's parent company.

Duncan's answer "was not fully communicated" throughout the hospital's medical team, Lester said.

Instead, the patient was sent home with antibiotics, according to his sister, Mai Wureh, who identified her brother as the infected man in an interview with The Associated Press.

quote:

A day after the man's diagnosis was confirmed, a nine-member team of federal health officials was tracking anyone who had close contact with him.

WHEW! that was close eh?
quote:

The ambulance crew tested negative for the virus and was restricted to home while their conditions are observed.

these guys are shitting a brick right now.

quote:

The children, who attend four separate schools, apparently had contact with the man over the weekend and then returned to classes this week. But school officials have said they showed no symptoms.

FOUR SEPARATE SCHOOLS

HAD CONTACT WITH THE MAN

RETURNED TO CLASSES

But school officials have said they showed no symptoms

LMAO! "School officials". These are the experts we are counting on to halt the spread of Ebola in the US.

Just wow.

Nice knowing you, America.

I'm stocking up on anti-zombie ammo now.

Ebola is not a big deal in a first world nation.

Still with this? It normally would not be with all the safety measures our government promised were in place but, low and behold, this idiot flies right in, goes to a hospital with Ebola like symptoms, tells staff he is visiting from Liberia, goes home with antibiotics and interacts with other people all weekend and then sends the kids off to school. People have to realize one thing; 90% of high level government employees that promise this and that about stuff like this work there because they can't get better jobs somewhere else. It's not nearly as concerning here as it is in third world countries but it is still a concern with the ineptitude that runs rampant throughout our government.

Actually bats and bushmeat are the major culprits.

what can you do to avoid it, just in case? You can take no-brainer measures,

the CDC says:

-Wash your hands frequently.
...Stay safe.
Yeah, I'm sure this is really all that is necessary. Like us Boomers who as kids in the 1950s regularly practiced "Duck and Cover" positions under our school desks or out in the hallway because that was all we'd need to be protected from fallout in case of a nuclear attack by the Soviets. Right. Ebola? Just wash your hands... and be safe.

Bump. Over 100 exposed and CDC keystone kop antics in Liberia revealed.

but the OT posters are laughing off the ebola threat
quote:

Yesterday, I came through international customs at the Atlanta airport,” the doctor told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “The only question they asked arriving passengers is if they had tobacco or alcohol.”

The CDC on Wednesday sent a team to the airport in Monrovia, Liberia, where the Texas patient began his recent trip from Liberia to the United States, to make sure health officials there are screening passengers properly.

We're from the government and we're here to help

Of course it's happening, we are letting people with diseases into this country by land and by air. What did people expect?
