I like the UE boom speakers, are there any that are comparable to these for less than $200?

Jam Box.

I have the UE mini boom and really like it. I only have to charge it once every 6-8 weeks. I think the Jam Box can get louder without distortion though.

Got the UE Boom after going back and forth between it and the Bose Soundlink Mini.

Since they were about the same price range, it came down to performance and battery life for me. Both sounded good, with the Boom being better on the high end and the Bose being better with bass.

However, the Boom has a battery life that is almost double that of the Bose, and I've put it to the test. It's legit. I've worked an entire day plus cooked dinner that night while listening to music, and at the end of the day, it still had about 30% charge.

Other key features that sold me on the Boom

1. It's dust and water resistant so it's better if you want to bring it outdoors at all

2. If you ever want to buy a second one, you can pair them together and listen in stereo mode (left and right) via the free app. No app for the Bose.

Don't have anything bad to say about it. Hope that helps.

I know this is going to be an unpopular opinion, but a guy I saw at work the other day had a beats pill. That thing sounded awesome.

Sonos beats all the bluetooth speakers, but they're different. If you're going to keep it at the house or on the deck, Sonos is definitely better. If you really want something transportable, then bluetooth is the better option.

Most importantly though, its what sounds good to you. The boom, jam box, and soundlink mini are all good as far as build and durability. Just pick which one you think sounds best

Yea I did. I was really hesitant about the Bose simply because I never bought in to the whole Bose mania. However, once I took the time to really listen to one I was absolutely blown away

I've had the UE booms for several months, I really like the speaker. Good sound and it gets plenty loud, battery life is also good. Also, they are built like tanks.

JBL Charge pound for pound, dollar for dollar can not be beaten.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that, like most electronic devices these days, it's all about personal preference.

Go to the store, try them out, and pick your favorite. Obviously people have had good experiences with several different speakers, so it really comes down to what you prefer.

I make my assertion from scientific reviews and applied data.

But to your point, if you are a big rap person JBL's will distort bass at high volumes.

Jawbone's tend to perform better if rap songs are your preference.

bought my wife the UE boom for Valentine's day and she loves it... If you get two you can make it work in stereo which is pretty cool.

We had an audio engineer test out the new JBL Charge, which has earned good reviews from Digital Trends and CNET and a 4.7-star review on Amazon (out of 316) reviews, all praising its clear sound and loud volume. Our engineer agreed, saying “The sound quality is cleaner, clearer and more detailed than the UE, and the speakers are also better at filling a room with even sound. The bass on the JBL, though modest, is natural, and reasonable enough on a small speaker, though not quite as full as the UE.” Overall, it’s a better, more balanced sound, unless a loud, desk-rattling bass is your number one priority. It’ll also give you 12 hours worth of battery life versus the Mini Boom’s 10.
With that said, we still think the UE Mini Boom is the better pick. Why? You’ll pay for the Charge’s better sound, both in money and in size: It’s $50 more, and at that price point you’re inching towards full-size speakers like the UE Boom, our pick for best rugged Bluetooth speaker. We just don’t think the sound is $50 worth of better. It’s also nearly two inches longer than the Mini Boom, and about six ounces heavier. At that point you’ll be hard-pressed to throw it in your jacket or bag and carry it around. But if you plan to keep it mostly in the same place, don’t mind paying a little more for better sound, and don’t care that much about bass, it’s a good pick.
