If those of you that have been I would be thankful for you answers base is in Bangkok:
- Men's dress attire for temples
- Tipping policy for food, taxis and Tuk Tuks
- Safety
- Acceptance of US currency (getting $500 in Bhat before I go)
- Suit making
- Massages not the happy ending type
- What you can and cant barter for.
- Currency exchange
- Muay Thai viewing
- Must see places around Bangkok
I may have more if you don't mind and thank you.

What the hell?
That's like going to a prime steakhouse and ordering a hot dog.

You'll find a god in every golden cloister
And if you're lucky then the god's a she

Kinda depends on the temple. Many will allow shorts to the knee even if technically by their culture you should be wearing pants.
Tripadvisor and the official temple websites will tell you exactly.
Tipping is unnecessary and in fact every cabby or person that we think of that receives tips in the US was always giving change, even the smallest amounts and thrown off by tips. If you are going to tip just round up a few baht. I did it mostly to avoid change I can't do anything with.
Safety - it's safe. Don't head off to the middle of nowhere at night slum and you'll be ok.
Like everywhere I go, I pull local currency at an atm on arrival. If you are that freaked out, bring us currency and get bent at the currency exchange if the atm doesn't work. Because every 50 feet there is an atm. One has to work or you're screwed anyways.
Remember: Siem Reap uses all US cash. Have all your 20 dollar bills broken down to 1s, 5s, and maybe 10s at your hotel because 20 dollars is like a 2 weeks salary for most of the country and people will have difficulty making change (or pretend to).
Suit making - I was only going to use Rajas fashions on Sukhumvit but didn't have the required days (5). Some other guy may do it though
Massages are cheap. You can get hour long massages for $10/15 or even less.
If it doesn't have a price on it you can barter. Any stall that isn't a chain/corporation is going to be a barter. If you are at Chatuchak get ready because it's awesome negotiation time.
Don't argue over food prices they are super cheap.
Currency exchange - again ATMS everywhere.
Muay Thai - don't go to Lumpinee, it sucked and is really fricking far. It's brand new but that sucks the life out of it. Try that Ratchamedon or whatever it's called. There's also one held at a TV studio that's supposedly good. Certain stadiums only have fights on certain days of the week so I had to do Lumpinee
Chatuchak Market, street food, the big malls, hotel rooftop bars. The tourist stuff is of course Wat Arun, Wat Pho, Grand Palace, etc.

Knee pads for carpet burns.

The BTS skytrain is your friend and really easy to use. I'll explain how you can use it 2 ways.
If you only want to use it like once or twice you can get coins at the manned kiosk. Then go to the big map with numbered button thingy. The numbers (7) (39) etc correspond to a station on the map. Find your station and press the corresponding number. Feed the coins and retrieve your ticket. Use the ticket like the NYC Metro (put paper in slot, gate opens and paper comes out other side)
Even better option:
frick that noise because using the machine thingy with the coins is a huge pain in the arse because the line gets super long. For whatever reason, people either like long lines or don't have as much money as us, so go to thay same manner kiosk and ask for a rabbit card. This is a card that you can just put a bunch of baht on and use until it runs out. From purchasing it head straight to your train, instead of feeding it through the slot like the paper ticket, hold it over the pad on top to open the gate. Way easier and skips rush hour BS
ETA: buy a tourist sim on arrival at the airport. All 3 major carriers are there. This will allow you to use UBER which is great for getting to hotels or non tourist sites the non English speakers can't understand as you can just punch it into the map feature uber has.
Absolutely no way would we have gotten to the dog petting cafe without uber for example not to mention one cabby didn't understand what I meant by Grande Sheraton Sukhumvit which is a pretty major hotel there. Thankfully I had some talk so we could call the hotel, but uber would have been easier.

Highly recommend:
Helping Hands Cooking with Poo. It's a cooking class where you go to a cool arse produce and meat market outdoors and cook in the slums. It's as real as it gets and she does a good job of teaching.
Khlong (canal) tours: you can get on these long tail boats and basically ride around these old arse canals. Very authentic view of Bangkok.
Bangkok Food tours: Google search it. Very good introduction to authentic food here.
Thai private tours: highly recommend for first day. Will help with getting acclimated.
Things to keep in mind:
If you're going to do the Grand Palace and Wat Pho, go as early as possible to avoid the large crowds. The mass of tourists makes it almost unbearable. Men's dress attire is basically long pants and t shirt. No tank tops.
I tipped a few bahts for everything like taxis and food. Just remember you're tipping a $1 basically. It's small change.
Thai massages hurt. Just keep that in mind.
I ate a bunch of street food. Don't worry about getting sick. I have been shitting better here with all the spicy food than I ever have in the states. They just use better ingredients.
Email me with any other questions.

Also, I was reading about about the SIMcard. If you use ATT you can use ATT passport and you can pay $30 for use of limited services in Thailand. It works well for what I need it for.
Go download mapswithme app on phone. You can download the maps and use them offline. GPS still works without data. Essential.
