- Alexandria, Louisiana - Only the best in the world make it. And, two of the best are from the same Central Louisiana gym.

Lisa Lauve and Jeff Prejean co-own CrossFit South Bank in Alexandria.

They're packing their bags for the CrossFit Games. It's a three day extreme fitness competition that pits some of the toughest against one another in California.

I'd say scientology but at least that doesn't show up on my facebook feed.

Yes, I know there will be much crossfit bashing in this thread. Regardless, it's pretty incredible that one gym - especially one in Alexandria, LA - is sending two individual competitors.

Serious question. For the elite cross fitters who play sports as well such as basketball or whatever recreationally, are they any good? Does it improve their endurance and athletic ability?

I mean, endurance and strength is going to be higher than your average recreational player, just like it would be for anyone who consistently works out in any fashion, if that's what you're asking.

But it's not like you're going to automatically drain 3s and be able to dribble a ball any better just because you are "elite" in crossfit, the same way a guy who can run a 3-hour marathon isn't going to magically start throwing a 90mph fastball.

I thought crossfit and high-waisted shorts both ended several months ago.

I've met Lisa before. She is a really nice lady and extremely driven. The one thing they failed to mention was that she is well over 50 years old and competing at that level at her age is pretty amazing in itself.
