Well what makes kids think like this?

lots of different things...tv/radio/internet access. Not truly understanding the finality of death. Thinking of murder as some game. And many other things too numerous to list.

Done any case studies?

No, I haven't. Although you wouldn't know it from media attention, cases like this are quite rare and it takes lots more experience than I have to deal with it and give competent diagnoses and prognoses.

sex isn't wrong. kids aren't taught that sex is wrong, they're taught it's for grown ups.

I've never heard of parents saying "wait till you're over 18 before you stab someone 19 times"

Charge them as adults. What they did was exceptionally and incredibly evil and there's no telling what these girls could do as actual adult women.

The victim was stabbed 19 times and hit major organs, how in the frick is she alive? There may be a god after all.

or they end up killing again.

I don't think rehabilitation is the norm for most people like this.

This is a crazy story. Honest question, not looking to troll. Do you think these girls can be rehabilitated?

maybe ...

"progressives" think people are born gay, which i agree with ... but "progressives" don't think people can be born without the ability to prescribe to a simple moral compass that exists in every facet of society/civilization around them ... they should be in prison for a very, very long time ... at least till they're 30 ...

They should be evaluated and kept in a mental health facility through their teens and then reevaluated at 18 or so IMO.

If they are disturbed enough to be doing shite like this at their age, there is no chance of them being good people at all in adulthood.

parents aren't legally culpable, but they might want to think about all that wasted time at the dinner table ...

Yep, you're probably right. They'll turn 18 and suddenly, because magically when you turn 18, they'll realize, gee, I guess that was wrong. Who knew? OK, time to let me out.

As a 12 year old, you may not understand the difference between right and wrong, but this is not an issue of a child( or 2 children) not understanding the severity of their actions. Playing with a fire and burning someone's house down, or throwing rocks at cars(just a couple of examples) are things that an immature child might do that could end up with loss of life. These kids(especially the ringleader) are not normal in the head, and most likely are never going to be able to be rehabilitated. Some people just aren't wired correctly. Put them in jail or in a hospital, for life. Glad the girl lived.
