The Sons of Liberty were under the direct command of Adams, who called the Mob out whenever he determined that a British action demanded a protest. Early on, he learned a trick of modern political protestors by making the riots appear spontaneous. Of course, Adams controlled them with precision, and aimed actions only at Royal officials, politicians, or tax collectors. The Mob burned Royalists in effigy from the “Liberty Tree,” stoned their houses, and tarred and feathered customs collectors. When Tory John Robinson was married, the Sons of Liberty surrounded his home on the honeymoon night, broke out all the windows, and shouted obscenities at the newlyweds until dawn. But not all of the Mob’s activities were so prankish. Following passage of the Stamp Act (1765) the Sons of Liberty completely demolished Stamp Commissioner Oliver’s home and drank the entire contents of his wine cellar. He resigned his post the next day. Then the Mob proceeded in a drunken rage to Lieutenant Governor Thomas Hutchinson’s home, where an observer described the scene:

quote:

By 1775 the American Revolution was inevitable. The battles at Lexington and Concord were simply formalized versions of the resistance that had been going on in the streets of Boston for 10 years. The Sons of Liberty introduced violence into the British-American dispute and made reconciliation impossible, which was Adams’ goal all along, namely to alienate the moderates and make them choose sides. Events also revealed that “news” and “propaganda” often were one and the same, depending on who did the “reporting.” With that strategy in mind, Sam Adams and the Sons of Liberty proved that rioting, looting, and violence—disgusting as they often were—could be effective Revolutionary tools.

That's such a far off base and wrong assumption. I don't even know an intellect can come to that assumption

It's apparent to 100% that I strongly dislike racism or anything that alludes to some of our shameful incidents in history. This includes ideas, opinions, policies and laws that are based in racism or elicit racism.

That's it.

Perhaps in his dreams. He's a male Rachael Dolezeal. He's experienced 0 hardship as a person of color.

He's full of shite.

Before he got banned (shouldn't have been allowed back), someone who knew him said he was white and he came from a privileged background.

He's a troll. And a shitty one at that.

This is all part of Mitch and the democrat party's plan to be a beacon for a sanctuary city. Drawing in MS13 and every other fugitive. Bringing them to New Orleans to get votes. Votes they are loosing to mature minds. As people grow eventually they learn of the lies and begin to see things as they are. Hence the Bernie sanders uprising. The Faux outrage is exactly that, faux.

Manufactured to be what it is. Tim and Mitch are parasitic ticks on the body that is New Orleans. Drawing on an agenda and yes back door theft. There is really no hope for New Orleans. It has been in control of democrats for some 40 years. See Detroit and Cleveland. Democrats are not smart enough to know, that parasite should keep the host alive. Or it has nothing to suck off of.

Democrats/Liberals are getting desperate as the see the change sweeping the US, hence the riots, fake news, and yes the taking down of historical monuments that serve a reminder of the past. They are desperate...

Bravo to the firefighter excersising their right to protest...

lol they chose to work for city. If you really don't wanna do it, don't do it and risk being fired. Quit and find another job if you don't want to obey orders from your chief.

You missed the part about not being trained to do that particular job. They committed several OSHA violations during the removal. Also, their statement confirms they actively took part in the removal vs. just observing...which was the lie put forth by Mitch.

Then you don't believe anything or anyone. It is all politics.

You are either just a sheep or plain stupid.

Then rest your case on that stipulation. Someone's fiancé came out and said "it's divisive" which implies one of the firefighters rather see those deplorable statues remain there. If their issue strictly pertains to their work requirements -- fine. The minute THEY start infecting politics into it...is the minute I stop believing them. And I don't believe them

Who brought politics into the statues? All the people who went about their business every day, or the people that started protesting that they be taken down? The firefighters didn't make them political, they already were. Most normal people would like to avoid to be in the scrutiny of this entire event. Yet the firefighters were forced into it, and therefore subjected to the scrutiny and the politics of it. If I go protest for one side of the statues debate, I'm inserting myself into it, and that's my problem. But these firefighters were forced into doing this at the risk of losing their jobs, and that's wrong

And who you calling THEY? If I turned that around and referred to someone as THEY, you'd be throwing a fit

To say nothing of the fact that on duty firemen, fire stations and NOPD were standing down during this stupidity...potentially putting citizens at risk.

Think of the lawsuit they would have had if they were hurt while moving the statues...

Well, as much as they didn't want to do, there is also civil service statute that expressly prohibits the chief or the mayor from ordering them to do something outside of their scope of duty. For example, they can't be ordered to cut the grass at the station. That's not within their job duties. Removal of statues certainly isn't in the job description either.

They violated the law with their orders. Whether the union files suit on that, who knows. But they will win it, slam dunk, if it comes to that.

I want to know if they were ordered to perform these tasks, or making money off of the City in doing so. It is extremely odd that there was only one company that bid this work and the lengths they have gone to hide this company from the people. This reeks of a scandal of epic proportions.

Not to mention the bid was for triple the amount budgeted for the removal.
