You should have gone in the past decade. My family has gone ( I never have been...have been to Greece, France, and China...about as close as I can get) and wsore it was the greatest country/city in Istanbul of all travels. Istanbul truly was the crossroads of the world...where white/color and Christianity/Islam/Buddhism and the Old world and the new one all converge. My folks loved it. They won't be going back -- EVER. Now...epicenter of a shite storm is the phrase to describe what was once apparently the greatest city in the world.

LINK

This link explains a little bit. Apparently people did the same thing for a moment of silence to commemorate the bombing in Ankara some months ago.

That and the Pyramids I think I missed out on. I may still risk Turkey. If I went to Egypt I'd fly in, get two bodyguards, see the pyramids and the Sphinx then leave the same day. It's just certainly something on my bucket list I wouldn't want to miss out on.

I've heard a lot of hate for Edrogan for what he's done to the city. It seems like he's torn down a lot of historic neighborhoods to build skyscrapers. What else has been done to the city over the last 10 years? My only experience with Turkey was a day in Ephesus and Kusadasi.

Why would you do that in Cairo? It is an interesting city. Istanbul is amazing. I really want to go to Tangiers one day.

I'm sure it is, but it's not nearly as safe as Istanbul is. A nation in where 90% of them think apostates should be killed on the spot is a place I don't want to spend much time in.

The link has been updated since confirmed reports of booing and whistling have come through. They weren't honoring anyone. They were booing the moment of silence. Then celebrating the terrorist.

And this isn't in any Democratic country. It's in The USA. Supposedly the most charitable, free of the Democratic countries, and one I'd actually really like to visit some day. Really this video is all we need to show that critics are 100% correct when it comes to The U.S.. Yes, most Americans aren't willing to kill in the name of their country/beliefs, but when someone else does it for them, what is their response. It's clear what their response is: they post videos of drone strikes on TD and cheer the killings by the military.

See how that viewpoint can be warped to their side?

Actually, a good few do this. There are ex-patriots all over the world.

Costa Rica has a really big American ex-pat community.

Not to mention: most ISIS members were born, raised, and educated in Europe.

The France attacks were carried out by French and Belgian Nationals.

The Syrian Refugees are trying to get away from those radicals.

Impossible.

Muslims never condemn the radicals.

TD has told me this.

The Muslim religion is a scourge on humanity. The sooner more people wake up to that, the better off we will all be.

See his edit?

EDIT: I have now seen videos where the fans are clearly booing and whistling before they begin chanting Allahu Akhbar. I've also read Turkish newspaper articles corroborating these facts. The comments above are obviously made before I was aware of these facts. What has happened is extremely disgusting and unacceptable. I am, once again, heart broken by the ignorance of some of my own people.

To be fair, turkey isn't exactly a secular state like it is perceived. They are similar to Saudi Arabia in a way

Are you joking? I've been to both SA and Turkey and the are NOTHING alike. NOTHING. Turkey is a secular state with majority muslims but its a great Mediterranean state and is generally a safe place for Westerners to visit. I encourage you to travel there. Saudia Arabia on the other hand is an absolute shithole which is basically ruled by sharia law where women are treated like crap. There is no comparison between these two countries other than they are majority muslim.
