If they ask you "what number you usually get" on the sides and back, you are in the wrong place and you will get a bad haircut.
Note: this may not apply to black dudes. May be a good sign in that case.

I still to this day couldn't tell you what the numbers are. I had never heard of getting a 1-2 "fade" until my barber passed away and I was forced to go to supercuts.
