Yep. If rioters came after my property or most of the people I know, it would end poorly for them.

Katrina caused a massive infrastructure failure and extraordinary conditions. I think people underestimate the undercurrent of racial tension in this country, the midterm elections are a reflection of it. All it would take is someone to scratch the head off the zit in the right environment.

Would have happened in Houma had that cop been white. Once everyone realized it was a black cop, everyone moved on.

It can happen anywhere that it is allowed to happen. Last night could have been prevented had the leaders of the community had a collective set of balls. A line of police standing in a fricking field with their hands behind their backs? Really?
Have a badass display of force ready and waiting and obviously visible and go out ahead of this shite and tell them that the first mother fricker that breaks a window, throws shite at a cop, lights a fire, discharges a weapon etc. is getting double tapped center mass by one of many snipers just waiting for it to happen.
You are free to lay in the street, cry, scream, cuss, sing koom-bya or whatever the frick you want to, but when you start breaking laws and tearing shite up we will not tolerate it.

I agree 100%. However, if you think that this would happen in today's climate, you are living in a dream world. Everyone has become so scared to take a stand. It would've been the same result pretty much anywhere in the USA.

When I was in high school in Shreveport, the blacks in Eden Gardens decided to hold a riot. The SPD cordoned off the perimeter and let them have at it. Turned out to be the right strategy.

NOPD has some of the best crowd controlling tactics and experience in the world.
It could happen on a small scale in localized areas, but it would be shut down quickly.
The Katrina argument csnt be used here because much of the police force was already gone.

It takes more than just a white cop shooting a black individual to get the point of Ferguson. What got Ferguson going was the 24 hour news coverage.
A year or two ago, werent there two separate instances in like a one month period where white NOPD officers shot and killed black individuals? There were no riots or looting after that. There were no riots or looting in the instance where the white home owner in the Marigny shot the black kid, either.
To me, the difference is that the 24 hour news networks chose to take off running with the Ferguson situation. The constant publicity just makes things worse.
