probably not anywhere near 10% or over

I don't really know, but 10% seems low. On a 40k vehicle, 10% is only 4k. So you are saying that if I bought a truck for 40k then returned it the next day to a used car lot, they would likely offer me more than 36k? I've honestly never been a part of something like that, so they may if there are barely any miles on it and such.

But I know when I traded in my truck it was worth 29k private sale and I was offered 24k (I shopped the trade in at several places). So that's 17% right there in markup for the dealership.

I don't think it's hard to believe that over 10% loss right out the door is possible. But I am willing to admit I don't know.

Absolutely

It may not be their first offer, but they know it's a good deal for them even at 36k

But I thought you wanted leather on your 30,000 dollar toy

That's prudent.

Vinyl and leather reupholstery cost about the same. Leather lasts longer if properly conditioned.

Both are easier to clean than cloth.

As for what I was driving, I'm contemplating the older wagoneer, but

If I wanted to be stuck on the bank, I'd have bpught the new audi or whatever that is we left on the shore.

yup, because they still will sell it as a new car. and 10% is good money for a used car dealer. And the same holds true for used cars as well in the same scenario

I don't believe you. I don't believe a used car dealer would offer $36K for a vehicle that cost $40K new.

No they wouldn't. Who would buy a low-mileage previously-owned vehicle for $40K, when they could buy the exact same vehicle new for the same price?!

a one day old vehicle? damn how much do you think dealers make on a 40k sale, 25-35%?

A one day old vehicle will still be sold as a new car. Of course they arent going to pay you for the sales tax and fees, but sale price to sale price for a one day vehicle doesnt not have that much depreciation.

Right, they'd sell it at 95% of it's value, and then they've made profit on the same unit twice without doing an ounce of reconditioning.

Eh, basically with the exception of highly unreliable stuff like AFM

Neither the iron block 6.0L gas or the 6.6L diesel have AFM like the 5.3L and 6.2L motors in the EPA-rated half ton trucks.

I've put about 150,000 miles on a 5.3L with that and never had any issues. Same technology is in the Honda Pilot, Accord, and Oddessy. We haven't had issues with our Accord either.

If you drive a big truck and don't haul anything with it or use it for work but just have it to have it that means you have a small dick

Sabi, I know you are a lean (but lethal) guy.

You'd look swallowed up in one of those ginormous trucks.

Big trucks are cool though.

This may have been posted somewhere inthe past 10 pages but seriously, who needs to pay that much for a truck, all I want is something to get me from point a to point b. I don't need my seat to vibrate if I cross the center line. My eyes will let me know if I do.
