80k is = to prob 30-40k on a gas engine. I would be ok with buying a diesel with that mileage but I wouldn't pay 40k for it. You still have 150-180 good miles to put on it so I'd be willing to pay somewhere in the mid 30's

Wait, this is great.... You do realize both the duramax and powerstroke use the CP4 pump manufactured by Bosch right?

And you can stroke your dick to the allison all you want but at the end of the day its just a stock trans.

Oh and I have owned both diesel ford and chevy.

Even with 80,000 miles on it, I could definitely buy a nice truck like that for 23-25,000.

For a 2014 King Ranch Diesel? You don't truck shop much do you? You can't get one with over 100k miles in that price range.

This.

You might have to travel a good distance to find the deal, but this is doable.

I get mostly GM products for our work fleet, I've gone as far as St Louis dealerships for $7k off local pricing for 3/4 & 1 Ton vehicles.

I fly the fellow up who is going to get the new vehicle and he drives it back. Less than $2k investment to save $5k. And your time is "free" to you.

Delivery is cheap if you want to go that route, $1,000 will get a F350 a long way.
You can ask the selling dealership to quote you on that or at least point you towards a service. Most good ones will.

The used car market is crazy right now. Gone are the days of getting a nice drop in the price by buying lightly used.

New vehicle prices have also skyrocketed.

When the 2017's came out, they were unloading new 2016's for low 50's. Look for a better deal.

You can thank "certified preowned" for that.

New vehicle sales have hit a slump. I don't advocate buying new but if you can get a great deal on a brand new (smaller) diesel with a final sales price in the same ballpark as the one in the op, I'd go for it.

Only thing I would be weary of, is repairs.

You might get one that'll never need any repairs, but anything in the engine bay will require a shite ton of labor hours.

That engine bay is tight, and almost everything that needs to be done in the engine bay, will require removal of the cab.

As bad as it sucks, that is about the going price for that year model with a diesel. Do a search and many have the same miles for more than what your seller is asking. I had a diesel back when the 7.3l was popular. I miss that truck.

Try finding a 2012 Ram 3500 Cummins. That was the last year they built them without the idiotic DEF emissions system that never works and costs tons to fix. You can get a Big Horn edition which is just as nice as the King Ranch for closer to $35k with similar miles.

I seriously hate the DEF systems. I've been stranded by every single one I've driven at some point.

10k? For a fuel pump? Did I read that right?

The high pressure fuel pump grenades and debris gets sent thru the rest of the system. Therefore having to replace everything.

$5000 too high if it's an XLT
Average deal for a King Ranch
Pretty good deal on a Lariat or Platinum
