Do you have excessively high miles on it?

A lot of times books, especially NADA don't account properly for real high mileage in relation to the year of the vehicle.

They all do it though. If they don't you're just getting taken on the price of whatever you're buying.

Why not sell it on the open market? I quit trading cars for new ones years ago. The salesperson could care less for the records of service receipts and care for the vehicle you are getting rid of. Someone looking for a good used car will usually be willing to pay more for a car that comes with a documented maintenance history included.

Try to sell outright a couple grand over what they offer, 71K is approaching the mileage to where it can only get financed for so long through the dealer selling it. I would go hit up 2 dealers and see what they offer.

especially NADA

Nah, NADA has a deduction for high miles. Anything over 12K per year is considered high miles.

OP , at 71K on a 4 YO vehicle, is high miles

It really depends on if they see it as a Retail piece o an Auction piece. If its an Auction piece hey will typically give you what they feel like they will get from Auction using manheim etc.
If its retail they want to land somewhere below Left Book on NADA how much below depends on repairs etc that they will need to do on it to get it ready for sale.

When looking them up yourself make sure your on trade in values and not private sale values, I saw that alot where people think we are way off from " What they looked up"

Bigger ones type it into the computer (auction) and it spits out the lowest value and they subtract a few thousand. Smaller ones typically use the NADA yellow books or KBB, and take the lowest value minus a few thousand.

Either way, if your car is pristine, they'll say it is average and not in demand

Back right panel has two marks on it from where a chunk of concrete flew up and hit me in Houston. I was quoted about $500 for repairs.

That is the only paint work damage.

You will likely sell it outright for $500 to $1,000.00 below net NADA adding for options and deducting for miles as appropriate. Those vehicles are neither hot or cold with gas as it is. If you can look at it critically or openly, and make an unbiased decision not to make every last dollar out of it, it will go more quickly.

the seller actually gave me $100 more than what I asked for on my old car.
Which means they raped you on the new one.

Are you saying that whatever NADA spits out for a private sale value I should expect to get close to that? I am not looking to nickel and dime, but I don't want to get screwed either.
