Wondering what the OT uses for this? Looking for something that you can use to program workouts and track your heart rate. Also with GPS for typical long runs.

Garmins generally have great GPS watches. I have the vivoactive hr. I like it. It's great for golf as well.

But seriously, I'm looking into a suunto. They are pretty damn pricey though. Idk what you want to spend

Atlas Wearables has what they call a wristband that is only good for working out with but they also have an app that can track workout movements for other Android based fitness watches. I haven't tried the app yet, but plan on it with my Moto 360 sport in the morning doing crossfit.

As a rangefinder or does it track stuff on your swing?

Just a rangefinder.
I don't want to track my swing. I don't want to know how bad it is

I'm pretty sure Garmin forerunner watches will do what you need. I rarely upload a running workout, but have uploaded pre-programmed cycling and an occasional swim workout to my 920xt. They will definitely capture your intervals though. I usually run quarter mile repeats with a rest in between for my higher intensity run work. Just set the auto lap for a quarter mile and stop when the watch buzzes.
