Got a 2019 RAV 4 . Fun ride and has some good safety features.

The CRV has noticeably more usable storage space in the back. I can fit a decent bit more crap in the back of my wife's '14 CRV than my buddy can in his '18 Rav4.

Mazda CX-5. At least look at it.
No CVT. Rav4 and CR-V both have it.
No turbo. I think CR-V is all turbo now.
Looks better than both.
I have a Mazda in my household...one of the best vehicles we've ever owned. I also own a Toyota...it doesn't feel as well built.

It cools fast, but the output doesn’t seem strong. I have to run it on 4, the max, for it to blow enough. Always been that way. A passenger in the back seat won’t be comfy. Next car will have dual air. My bad.

They’re both pretty solid and have good resale value. I prefer Toyota over Honda and would go with the RAV4. Honda will likely have better tech and interior, while Toyota will have the better engine and drivetrain.

Nissan is really the only manufacturer you need to avoid CVT transmissions on. Honda has been using CVT’s since the mid 90’s. They can still fail, but so can a traditional one.
Unless it’s just a preference thing. They don’t bother me when I’ve driven one.
I do agree on the CX-5. Those are sweet rides and Mazda recently was offering 2.9%APR on them, which is about as good as you can get right now if you’re financing.

Whichever doesn't have a CVT transmission.
If they both do find something else.

Get a Rav4 prime if you can. Really fun hybrid SUV to drive that gets around 50miles on a full charge then is gas. Does 0-60 in 5.4s
I’m a fan.

We just sold my wife’s 5 year old crv to Carmax for over 26k that she paid 29ish for

Rav4 is kinda is Aggie-ish, but is still better than the CDV

Royal Honda in Metairie is $3000 above MSRP. $1495 for some BS wheel locks and pin stripe and $1500 for "market adjustment".
Can buy the wheel locks on Amazon for $50 and TBH I don't like how the pinstripe looks.
And they really don't have many cars available, they claim that a bunch are in transit. They and Lakeside Toyota are hiding cars somewhere and trying to create an illusion of a shortage. I know that the inventory levels are not like pre covid, but come on, a dealership that size has to have cars to sell or they wouldn't be able to keep the doors open.
A friend suggested to check CarMax and see if they have any late model cars in what I'm looking for. There prices for a 2 year old Rav4 with 30k miles is only $2500-3000 cheaper than the MSRP on a 2023. It's crazy.

Crazy thread, I just debated the same choices and ended up going with the CR-V EX-L. Much more plush and nicer interior than the Rav-4. Better priced too.

We ordered a sport touring. Was supposed to be here 2 weeks ago, but supply chain issues with BSI delayed it. Now supposed to be here by the end of the month.
Trading our 2018 Accord on it. Difference is $12k after negotiation.
Local Toyota dealers are still charging a market adjustment on Rav4.

The Honda blows the Toyota away in this case. The CRV is just a much nicer vehicle.

Wife's car came down to Rav4 vs CRV. She chose Rav4 and loves it. Our choice for all trips together.
Son and I installed trailer hitch and the construction of this car, our first Toyota, is impressive.
