Toyota FJ's: Any of y'all seriously looked at them?

Just trying to find out if they're as reliable as all the other toyota's out there. And if they're powerful, fun, etc.

I have a 2008. Most reliable car I've ever had. Nothing has broke on the thing. Highest resale of any vehicle from what I've heard. Kinda ugly, beast off road, blind spots near the rear sides.

I thought there was talk about discontinuing this vehicle?

I test drove one.
Thing rides like a tank.
Blind spots are terrible.
Did not go with it because it is waaay to much of a gas guzzler to be my daily commute.

very reliable and a tough 4x4.
It's a shame that we can't get a hi-lux based unit though.

Looked at them, nice car but went with a Land Cruiser. They use the same v6 as the the 4runner and Tacoma so its damn reliable. This guy does a pretty good review. LINK
I hope so. Land cruisers blow FJs out the water, and I drive an FJ. The two are not even in the same league, which is also why land cruisers are 3x the price.

Almost certain they have. I've been wanting one for a while now.

It`s all about Toyota's gear ratio. The fj in the trail teams edition is actually a serviceable work vehicle that will hit the woods roads and get you back on the pavement and home in time for supper. And will be doing the same when it is an old, beat up vehicle. I`m not one to tear up the trails looking for
mud, but I don't expect to get stuck in my fj.
I seriously looked at the 4 door jeep wranglers, becuase i`ve owned a cj-7 in the past. Couldn`t go with the jeep because I wanted something dependable.
It`s not a comfortable ride, if that is what you're looking for. I`m in the woods a good bit for my work, and I`ve gone from parking my truck and unloading a 4 wheeler to simply riding in my fj. This past friday it was 27 degrees and sleeting, and I was in the fj the entire time, in upland pine plantation and hardwood bottoms. Bridges were iced over, and I had to go off-road to look at a tract of land. My client was a 78 year old individual, and I think she was satisfied. I added a few scratches to the paint job, but that's part of a day`s work.
Having said all of that, I'd still prefer a truck for hauling equipment in the bed. But I have the option of having an old 4wd work truck that I can use for the lease and work around the house.
If you want an fj to ride the pavement, you're an idiot.

I bought a used 2013 to traverse the third-world grade roads of Jackson, Miss. and for some minor off-roading. Love it. No problems at all.
It's a rush to accelerate though potholes and other obstructions, as opposed to repeatedly taking a BMW (or whatever) to the tire shop to get a dented rim knocked out.
It rides more smoothly and quietly than what I expected, so I consider that a plus.
No frills as far as creature comforts. Everything just works. Fine with me; at this stage in my life, I'm tired of having various non-essential equipment break on vehicles.
Cons: blind spots, gas mileage.
2014 was the last year that was imported into the U.S. Still made, just not imported.

I've had a 2011 Acura tsx with all the bells and whistles , a loaded z71 with leather .. Then my FJ . You realize you don't need the other crap you don't really use. It's not fancy , but with a few modifications it can look pretty awesome . And like I said , it works .. Zero issues and I hope to get 200k miles out of it then get a new 4Runner .

I owned a 2011 for a little more than a year and I liked it for the most part. The blind spots are serious and take some getting used to. about 17/18MPG regardless of what they tell you. I had a little leak on one of the rear doors and a rattle at the windshield at interstate speeds that even the dealership couldn't figure out. I traded it in at another dealership from where I purchased and they gave me more than I paid after putting 15K miles on it.
resale is awesome on those things.

My neighbor's had one for about 4-5 years, he loves it. Never had any problems to speak of.

I have an '07 with 160K miles. It has been very reliable. Lots more room than my Wrangler. Ride is nice. Fuel economy is around 16-20, and there are lots of blind spots.

I don't think it has replaced the Jeep Liberty. I do see a lot of women driving them in my area though.

I have a friend who has one and this is the only complaint they have with it.
