Between the arm brace, eye patch and fact that he is getting paid but hasn't been to work since February - I just got to believe that this law enforcement "Professional" is probably on a Workman's Comp or on the job injury type leave with accompanying lawsuit? That eye patch just screams "I gots to get paid for my pain!"

From the owing the State article.

quote:

The audit found Washington should have sent to the state treasury $220,130 in fines collected between Aug. 15, 2009, and June 30, 2010.

At $170 per ticket given out that means they'd have to give out almost 1300 tickets per year to make $220K.

Broussard said revenue has dropped from $1.2 million in 2011 to about $800,000 last year and, based on current trends, will total about $400,000 or $500,000 this year.

One reason, he said, is because a female officer was seriously injured near the interstate last year.

“That accident really affected the other officers,” Broussard said. “They just felt like it was an unsafe environment for them to be in because she was in a serious accident.

But I thought writing tickets was to promote SAFETY?

That's only 3.5 per day. That seems way low, tbh.

Am I making this up, or have there been times when Washington officers actually step out on to the interstate to stop cars?

This is correct.

My last ticket there came in this manner.

I was called by a buddy and told that day not to speed there, they were giving tickets.

I was the only car on the interstate at that time. I put my cruise control on 65 when I got past Opelousas. I KNOW I wasn't speeding.

Dude stepped out on I49 and flagged me over. I rolled down my window, and he informed me I was doing 78 in a 70. I was infuriated. I even told him who had called me and warned me not to speed that day (guy knew the Chief).

He then made up some BS about "putting it down to a seatbelt violation" and wrote a note on the ticket requesting it. Guy knew he was giving me a bogus ticket.

I got that one fixed, but ended up having to pay court costs anyway.

frick those people. Hope they burn in hell.

Called the mayor. "Just pay the $100 and we won't report it."

I guess that's their budget. Used to stop there and go their antique stores. No more.
