In case you're looking for a cheap, yet amazing lunch in Florence, go to Nerbone in the Mercato Centrale.

The lampredotto (a sandwich with boiled beef) is world famous, the pasta and other sandwiches are fantastic, and the wine is amazingly cheap.

Siena itself is great. You might be lucky enough to be there for a practice run of the Palio, but I think you'll be a bit early. I like all of the hill towns - Montalcino, Montepulciano, San Gimignano, etc. never been to Volterra but I hear it's nice - dress warm!

Poggio Antico winery has a good restaurant.

Hopefully you are staying in a villa with a pool

My fiance said florence was one of her favorite places in Italy, but she said pompeii was neat also. So you might could do one day at each of those because Pompeii only takes half a day or so

From all of your choices, spend it in Florence. Cinque Terre is awesome, but it's more of a day trip in my opinion. I wouldn't even consider Pompeii to be honest.

Cinque Terre and Florence.

But definitely Cinque Terre. Not sure if you can hike between the towns anymore.

You can kind of kill two birds with one stone by doing Pompeii, then going to the Amalfi Coast. Amalfi is similar to Cinque Terre.

You have a lot of the same interests as I do.

Like I said, I'm going in two weeks and have made some of the same decisions. One thing I'm excited about is the Chianti region within Tuscany which is classic Tuscany and major wineproducing area. Maybe look into that.

Keeping in mind that I'm doing that in addition to Florence & Pompeii which are your two decision points. Look up San Gimignano, Volterra & Greve in Chianti.

Was in Roma a couple of weeks ago. Pretty much the same there. They dress well and take of themselves.

Out of the three, I've only been to Florence...so that gets my vote. Would probably get my vote regardless, it's a beautiful city with so much to do.

I have been to each on multiple occasions. Spend the time in Florence, I was there for several months and still would choose it again.

San Gimignano

Beautiful town and the Gimignano wine is a must buy....but, I wouldn't spend too much time there. There is very little of historical importance - get in, get some wine, take some pictures, shop/eat and roll out to the next town IMO.

Took this in San Gimigano right at the entrance, one of my favorite pictures on the trip:

Cinque Terre is awesome, especially in the summer. Be sure to do the hike. Florence is cool, but I have never been to Pompeii, so can't give much on that. Definitely make Cinque Terre a stop.

In Florence men and women dress well, better than the Romans and Venetians. Only those in Milan dress better. Italians really are fashionable.
