For shitz and giggles let's say dumb dad is standing perpendicular to the constable while aiming his rifle. The constable's target went from 24" wide at parallel (we will say dad is a little on the heavy side) to 12" perpendicular. Add in the fact he is pointing a rifle at your head because he wants you to die. Let that bounce around in your empty skull for a few...

Now put yourself in the constable's shoes. How accurate are you with that center mass shot? Even after your gun training hours you logged in preparation for your job as a constable.
If that constable had shot him center mass and dropped him where he stood, you'd be here bitching that he should have shot him in the arm.
This is 100% the dad's fault. He knew pointing a gun at LE would get him shot. He knew if he let his daughter stand there with him she could be hit by a bullet in his act of stupidity. Constable did his job but has to live the rest of his life with this on his mind because the dad was an idiot.

I don't need to see his training record to know that he has enough training to know not to aim for an arm

So everyone bitches because officers don't shoot at the arm or leg, an officer does so and you see the effects, then everyone bitches because they didn't shoot in the chest?

The only thing I am trying to say is that it sucks that the constables training was not high enough for him to place a proper shot anywhere in the largest part of a persons body.

If that is the standard you're suggesting that all cops should have then Angelina Jolie is one of the few in this country that should be allowed to protect and serve.

Terrible story from every angle.

I don't know that we are better off hearing every tragic story that happens around the country.

Yes, reading this shite is definitely toxic to the soul. Modern click-at-all-costs media has taken "if it bleeds it leads" to stratospheric levels.

I regret I have but one down vote to place upon all the stupidity you've demonstrated in this thread.

Please don't reproduce, the gene pool is shallow enough as is.

We should do like the Chinese when a cop kills an innocent person. Instant death. Both are tpos.

Yup, all bets are off when someone is pointing a gun at you. It basically becomes a shoot first, ask questions later situation. The dad should be charged with murder.

I do believe someone with very good situational awareness and training would've moved before the shot and not placed one where the girl was the backstop. Those people are not constables though

Why would you stand behind someone that is pointing a gun at another armed individual?

You will never see me bitching about someone shooting and killing someone. I can promise you that.

Well it would have had a little harder time passing through since it would be going through some more tissue wouldn't it?

Man... absolutely terrible story. Feel awful for this little girl.

Unless I missed something, this article is really confusing. The tenant pointed a loaded rifle at the constable. The constable "returned" by firing at the tenant. This implies that the tenant squeezed off a shot. Does it say that anywhere?

Maybe I'm incorrect, but I'm pretty sure I've seen people banned for advocating for the deaths of police on this board.

Little girl died during the act of a felony. Dad will get aggrivated manslaughter at minimum. As he should

Yeah because every fire fight I've ever been in the target wasn't moving.

Do you not think he was ducking out of the way, or do you envision this as a Dodge City stand-off?
