A 12-year-old Pennsylvania girl was home sick from school when she was accidentally shot and killed by a constable serving her father with an eviction notice, authorities said.

The girl’s father, 57-year-old Donald Meyer, pointed a loaded rifle at Constable Clark Steele and Steele fired a single shot in return, the bullet traveling through Meyer’s arm and striking Ciara Meyer, who was standing behind him, state police said.

Sad.

This is all on the father for brandishing a rifle with this daughter right behind him.

So basically another story of an undertrained/prepared officer doing something terrible?

Making rent shouldn't be a problem after the wrongful death law suit.

Agree but doesn't this also fall on the fact that the constable fired an inaccurate shot and killed the wrong person?

Did you miss the part where he hit his target?

The person serving you is not the person evicting you. How smart do you have to be to know this, and even if so, you gonna pull out a rifle? Really? With you daughter in the room? F@&@er

He hit his target.

Did he know that the girl was behind the dad? Did he know the girl was home?

No he didn't.

I hope he didn't know the girl was there. And I can't imagine how you go about your day after accidently killing a 12 year old. That's brutal.

Ok, Chris Kyle. I'll put you in a situation like that and see if you drill the perp center mass while trying not to get shot at the same time.

It was a constable. How much training do they have?

I'm not going to put the blame on the guy who was probably scared shitless when some idiot comes at him with a rifle.

I agree that he hit his target and I don't know the context of how fast everything went down but what I can tell you is that his job is to know what is around when firing his weapon. That is what training is for. He should also be a little more accurate than an arm shot.

In some places, they're regular cops who pick up the job for extra money
