Correct. Not contagious in incubation.

Very dangerous.

Oh, I'm not a Doctor.

337, don't be such a bitch.

Are you a Doctor, or did you stay at The Holiday Inn Express.

Do you believe that the government of the United States would ever admit if they couldn't handle a crisis? Think Katrina was bad? This would be EPIC!Already the BBC is reporting that the outbreak is worse than being reported and that the Sierra Leone government is trying to downplay the extent to which the country has been attacked.

Have you even read the informed posts in the thread you started? Ebola has killed 1600 people in 40 years. I'll let you figure out where that ranks out among infectious diseases. Most of those affected have been close relatives/caretakers of family members with the disease, medical professionals, and mortuary staff. You have to come into contact with bodily fluid. It's not contagious during incubation. And there has never been a serious outbreak in an African city--frickin Africa in the 1970s was able to contain it.

If you're bored and just need something to get worked up over, be my guest.

Ebola, Mexicans, our border security is pitiful.

let the illegals from south of the border flood in in massive quantities and distribute them in all 50 states.

what could possibly go wrong?

in other news, homeland security is hard at work protecting the citizens

Six vehicles full of DHS agents were required to seize a Land Rover from a couple in Statesville, N.C. due to the fact that the vehicle allegedly violates EPA emission standards.

quote:

Jennifer and Bill Brinkley were satisfied that their $60,000 dollar purchase of a Land Rover Defender on eBay complied with regulations because it fell into the exemption category of a vehicle 25 years or older. However, when DHS agents turned up at the property, they compared the car’s Vehicle Identification Number to a list and immediately seized the Land Rover. The couple were not given “a chance to debate the issue.” WBTV’s Steve Ohnesorge said DHS agents conducted “almost like a raid to get the car.”

Facts are dangerious? I should caveat it that those who've studied the disease for the last 40 years think there is about a 98% chance that it isn't contagious in incubation.

Neither. I did do a research project on Ebola in college and studied everything I could about health risks in Africa when I was working there.

It would be at customs when you enter the country, not TSA when you leave

Patrick Sawyer was a naturalized U.S. citizen who worked for the Finance Ministry of his native Liberia and returned home to his wife and children in Coon Rapids, Minnesota, whenever he could. He almost certainly would have boarded that flight to Minneapolis had he remained at least outwardly healthy enough not to exhibit symptoms.

One nightmare scenario would have been for him to go ahead with the birthday party for his daughters even though he was feeling a little flu-ish and maybe dish out cake and ice cream to his little girls before anybody imagined he might be carrying the deadly virus from distant West Africa.

Another near-miss in Charlotte

DHHS: Patient tested at CMC did not exhibit Ebola symptoms

A CMC spokesperson released the following statement around noon Wednesday:

"Late last evening, a patient arrived at Carolinas Medical Center Emergency Department after visiting a country known for high risk of infectious diseases. We took all appropriate infection control measures to protect patients, staff, and visitors. After consulting with the Centers for Disease Control and NC Department of Health and Human Services, it appears the risk for communicable disease is low. No further testing is needed and the patient will be sent home. The Emergency Department at Carolinas Medical Center remains open and operating normally."

What does this even mean? He was symptomatic BEFORE the flight.
