Tips to make TWIC Card Application Process go smoothly?

I need to get a TWIC card for the first time. Can someone give me some tips to make the process as smooth as possible?

TIA

Schedule as far in advance as possible for the earliest in the morning possible.

Bring plenty of ID. Bring extra stuff off the list. You DO NOT want to have to leave and come back.

Those are the main two.

Don't be a felon.

ETA: Mine took about 2 weeks to be ready. It varies depending on location.

It really isn't a difficult process, unless you are a terrorist. You aren't a terrorist, are you?

Don't go to the BR industriplex. I went to LaPlace and was in and out in 30 minutes. You'll have a hard time getting an appointment in BR, and if you don't get one in LaPlace, you will have a much easier time getting one on a walk-in

So, it's really not a bad process if you're a law-abiding white dude?

Can it all be completed in one day? Or do you have to apply one day, then schedule again to pick it up?

I guess this is a good time for my first post...

I just got mine for the first time as well and if you're looking to go to the office in BR then you'll be waiting about a month to pick it up. They're booked for literally months. Make an appointment as soon as you can to go apply for it, as well as an appointment to pick it up. If you need it earlier than that, once they let you know it's ready you can go to the office and wait but if you do that you must get there early and be prepared to wait at least 4 hours. Notice the "at least." If you don't need it ASAP then make appointments and you'll be in and out in 20 mins because obviously they give preference to appointments first. GL

This, you go in with all your paperwork and apply first, then they run background checks and the like, then they will notify you when it is ready and you schedule a time to go pick it up.

You don't have to schedule to pick it up. They will let you know you're clear and you go pick it up at your convenience IIRC.

Wow. I got one about 3 years ago at the laplace location. I don't think the entire process took more than a week. I was also in and out when I had to go by the building.

It varies, depending on how long the background checks take. People with common names can take longer. I had mine done in Texas City, and it took a week and half or 2 weeks.

Will be quick and easy if you're squeaky clean.
