I'm boarding a plane tomorrow for the 2nd time in 6 months. Which is a very big deal for me since my last flight before that was in 1999. I'm terrified of flying. Any suggestions on how to calm down? I have Klonopin and will be taking them, but am not sure how much I can take before I OD. Because I pretty much need to take like 1 mg less than that to be even remotely calm. Any suggestions?

how far is the flight?

and the old cliche:

you are statisticly more likely to die on your way to the airport than on the plane itself.

I'm aware. But still can't stop the panic. I have an hour to ATL and then another hour from there.

You probably don't need tips from people that fly often...because we just get on the plane and go.

You're more likely to die on the way to the airport than on the plane. Bout all I got.

I have terrible anxiety when I fly. I take double my Ativan dosage, bring my iPad to read, play games, watch movies andvkeep me entertained, and I do lots of deep breathing exercises. Also i don't talk to the people around me, I just read and breathe. Good luck.

Drink ginger ale. It will help with the nervous tummy.

I guess my only other advice would be to take the day slowly. Airports are full of people in a rush. Just go through the motions and don't get caught up in all the rush.

No need to sprint through security, or onto the plane as soon as they call for boarding. During your layover in ATL, stop to pee. Walk to the concourse train and assuming you've got time, actually walk between the gates. Don't take the train.

There's always Greyhound if you just can't handle flight. They'll even let you leave the driving to them.

No time on the way there to walk. Less than an hour. 2 hour layover on the way home though.

As far as your meds, take one dose just before you leave your house and another when they start to board your flight. That way you're still doubling your dose, but getting it in your system early then giving yourself a little booster that should kick in about the time you take off.

And seriously, lots of deep calming breathing.

How long is the layover? And if you're going one or two concourses away...youll have time to walk.
