By the way this exact senecio happened to my elderly aunt. She heard them trying to get thru her bedroom window. Walked to the kitchen and called the cops. Cop got there about 5 minutes later and they walk back to here bedroom, kinda assuming they are gone. One jumps out of the closet and has a shoot out with the cop, one jumps out from under the bed and goes back out the window. Cop hits the shooter who goes back out the window. 3 bad guys get away, to be caught later. Cop dies right there in her room. Bad deal

So, in your honest opinion, most of the answers in this thread are realistically BS? (Other than the window jumper of course )

I don't have a gun

I would grab the pocket knife on my nightstand and lead my gf quietly out the sunroom entrance to our room. Hopefully I can sneak up on one guy, take him out, and we run to the neighbors while the gf calls 911

Remote for alarm has a panic button that works anywhere in the house. Porch light switch in my bedroom lights the front & back of the house so bright you can see it from space (slight exaggeration). Kids room is right across the room from mine. I'm sure I could get the wife in there fairly quick.

tell the wife to go get the daughter and hide, then grab the shotgun from under the bed and meet the intruders the door/window

And make sure to tell her to call 911 that way if it is a bunch of frick head cops they have record of a 911 call that proves we had no idea who it was.

Realistically, this is the OT - probably pretty close

What's your plan of action?

I would probably fire a couple of warning shots. If they continue trying to get in they are dead.

Well it would not be cops since they would have no reason.

I would have my Colt 45 in my hand as it is next to me for closet point of entry. My wife moves faster than me so she would have farthest point of entry covered with her Colt 45 that she keeps next to her. My daughter would have her Colt 45 that she keeps next to her trained on entry #3. And if they can get to their purses they each would have a Smith and Wesson M&P 9mm tucked into their waistband for a second opportunity to practice their shooting with live targets. I'm sure we would make a pot of coffee after while waiting on the fuzz just to get the heart rate up a bit.

Hunker down in the back corner of the master bedroom with multiple weapons with my wife who is a damn good shot (AR, Shotgun, Pistols of various calibers). No one can sneak up behind us and there is a narrow, short hall entering our bedroom. It would be like shooting fish in a barrel. Prior to the fish shooting, call 911 to report home invasion.

Well she is an old lady, so I would think a younger armed person may do something different. But who knows. She got lucky she woke up and heard it. Then lucky a cop got there quick and gave his life for her. The deal could play out in 1000 different ways I'm sure.

Then GF probably gets the train run on her while you watch. Then thieves steal all of stuff after they kill you both.

We have a plan, once everyone is awake, to cover points of entry. I'd spend my 30 secs getting everybody up. They know what to do at that point and know their role/POE responsibility. If doors or windows bust open, we should have the advantage.

Play a 1930's gangster movie and turn the volume way up when the guy says "get out of here you filthy animal". Light fireworks when he starts shooting the tommy gun. If for some crazy reason that doesn't work. I will ice the front walkway. Superheat the front doorknob. Break some Christmas ornaments by the main stairs and rig a paint can on rope. Put a nail on the basement stairs. Collect a hot iron, some hairspray, and my bb gun for self defense.

I'm so ready.

Loaded glock in my nightstand, I'm shooting. Once you put a bullet in one there's a good chance the other two turn around.

I'm not worried about a no knock warrant cause I'm not a criminal.

I have a tear gas system that I will activate after my family and I lock ourselves in the panic room.
