Are you honestly trying to claim Che was not a murderer?

Che died in 1967. The Ramones didn't form until 1974.

My music history is off, forgive me, but if you were a teenager trying to emulate trends like Rock n roll you risked being thrown in labor camps.

Well if you consider the hundreds of millions killed in the past century all in the name of Communism, you may just have a point.

I feel like we could flip this around on capitalism. A lot of theories about most of what goes on in the middle east essentially being proxy wars for the West. Other theories about Western nations, such as the US, keeping developing nations from rising up all for the sake of lower prices to consumers. Perhaps this is a better suited argument for the Poli board...

What an ignorant statement. He is A) Cuban and B)hates Che because his family had to flee the country and he had cousins and uncles 'disappear' following the revolution. I think he knows a little more about the subject than you do.

I'm just presenting one mans findings, who did more research than me. Che did kill people, he details that in his diary

Regardless of how bad communism is, it's hard to dispute that a lot of mischief takes place in the world in the name of capitalism, or perhaps corporatism would be a better word for it.

What kind of historian takes the official 'records' of the Castro regime at full face value? Of fricking course all the people Che killed were 'guilty.'

Not saying I wasn't. Just felt like playing devils advocate.

You view it as a good book and others view it as poorly written personal attack with almost no historic fact.

I haven't read the book, so I will reserve my opinion until after I read it, but one thing I know more than you is that Cuban-Americans hate Che

Che Chic was popular when RATM was at their height of popularity and a few years after. Half the college population suddenly felt they could buy a t-shirt and pretend they knew who Che was or what he stood for. Their way of joining the "revolution."

Whoever made money off the deal came out the best. I'll bet Che rolled in his grave.

Poorly written? It could have used some refinement, I'll concede that. But no historical fact? It was pretty exhaustively researched. He tied down virtually everything he said to existing transcripts and interviews of survivors, defectors, and the like. Tons of endnotes, many of which were from first-hand accounts.

Don't you think there's a reasonable basis for that? Also, why is it that everyone acknowledges that Castro is, at best, a petty dictator but Guevara, who was more or less his right-hand man, gets a free pass?

Again I haven't read the book, but I have heard of it and have read reviews that it contradicts CIA documents. I do plan to read it though as it is on my list of books to read regarding this topic

For some yes, for others no

I believe, that even though Guevara was a man of flaws, he was admired at the time for his "new man" platform

I see a lot of illegals wearing those to show their disdain toward the Gringo and capitalism.
