(I can't say this anymore-getting too many hate PM's from Pilot owners.

Wife had a Pilot. Lots of torque, lots of space, lots of airbags & safety features, and lots of gas.

Got hit by a Chinese lady driver in Atlanta and totaled. Wife still misses it.

She loves it. I don't like the satellite radio controls, but that is about it, and the navigation is a waste. Her parents recently purchased a new model and it is really nice.

which one?

A 4runner is a truck based suv with a solid rear axle and is available with 4x4 with an actual transfer case.

The cab is designed to crumple on impact, but the ladder frame increases the likelyhood of surviving a truly catastrophic accident.

I prefer the nissan prado platform. Though their CVT trans sucks.

I just posted 3 links with the Pilot receiving 4 stars. But he will post this link which only shows the Pilots results in the "Small overlap test" which is 1 out of 8 categories. The Pilot scored top notch in all other 7 therefore scoring an overall good grade

I'm sold on Toyta reliability. It's insane how well this Tacoma is holding up, and how in four years I've only lost $1500 in depreciation.

I'm absolutely getting a Tacoma or 4Runner next time - without hesitation.

IF (and only if) I had to go with car-based SUV I would consider a Highlander or Lexus RX350 - just because the underlying vehicles are Toyota solid.

I just bought an SR5 4Runner and could not be happier. Retired my 1995 4Runner... but man oh man can you transform a 4Runner into something mean!

It's probably the cool thing to buy the Trail edition, but with the price difference I can add more.

We have a 2013 Highlander 4x4 Limited and it is an excellent vehicle. We have a family of 4 and it serves the purposes for which we purchased it.

I survived a catastrophic accident in a vehicle with one of the worst safety scores in the history of vehicles being crash tested.

My advice, go truck based or go home.

The lexus GX series is the best bang for the buck out there besides the nissan offroaders.

Just recently shopped these. The 4Runner isn't really comparable to the other two. It's a different beast. It's worth driving, but they're basically only comparable based on size. For most of recent memory, the Highlander takes more than its fair share of awards in the mid-size suv category. It's a nice, smooth ride. It's base interior is fine. The top-of-the line stuff is very nice. Get behind the wheel of it and the pilot, and you'll notice that they drive like cars. Then hop in a 4Runner, and you'll notice that you're, in essence, inside of a small/midsized truck with a cabbed in, carpet-lined bed. You'll get much better mileage out of the other two. If your goal isn't frequent towing and off-paved-road driving, the 4Runner is a lot of wasted capability costing you a fair amount of fuel economy (all of which, to plenty of people, is a totally acceptable thing- there's nothing wrong with it). The 4-cylinder Highlander gets fairly decent fuel economy without sacrificing any amount of power that you'd really need for daily driving/commuting. I didn't really drive the Pilot, but you should expect it to drive more like the highlander and less like the 4Runner.

Just bought a Tacoma and I absolutely love that thing. The fact that I can pile a couple hundred thousand miles on it is just a plus and that's one hell of a plus.

I assume you intentionally are ignoring the 4Runner when making this statement.

Yeah, obviously didn't drive a pilot or any honda "suv".

Gas guzzlers.

Fords and GMs are shite, and have been for years. Had one of each, and neither made it to 100,000 without major mechanical issues.
