My local bar near my house has started encouraging patrons to bring their dogs on the patio of the bar. I obviously know because of health reasons you cannot have the dog's inside, but how do you think a (small) dog park/bar combo would go over? Call it the dog house. Offer different specials for patrons who actually bring animals.

Obviously, dont over think the definition of "dog park", I just mean an extra large patio with maybe a very small grass or turf area. Great way to encourage interaction among patrons. Insurance would probably go up a bit, but it would definitely have potential.

They have one in Austin At Banger Beer Garden. Well somewhat of one. Its got a small fence around it. Dogs hang out while their owners get drunk. win win.

Lawyers everywhere will be salivating at the chance to get at your insurance for the eventual dog bite of a human.

Assuming insurance is even possible.

Other than that i like the idea

You going to pick up their shite or ask the owners (your patrons) to?

ETA: I don't know if I want to go to a bar where there's a good chance of me stepping in dog shite.

Open one in BR and you'd make a fortune. I've never seen more people that wanted to take their dogs every single fricking place they go more than BR. I've seen them in grocery stores, malls, restaurants, bars, sporting events. I don't get it. and I own a dog. It seems like having a kid with you at all those places

They have this at a brewpub in Birmingham, but the outside area is pretty massive.

I had a buddy a long time back that used to bring his along to some outside bars with us. He would always make a scene.Bark at someone, Hump a leg, fight another dog, eat someones food. Made me nervous as hell.

Great place for the assholes who bring their dogs everywhere to hang out.

Do assholes have money? If so, go for it.

They used to have one here in Houston called the Boneyard, but it closed down last November. It was a cool spot to take the dogs and sit outside and enjoy a beer while they play. And they usually had food trucks show up. Great concept. Really enjoyed it there.

There is another in Austin area that focuses more on being a dog park. Two parks actually, one fenced in area for generic play and another for dog obstacle courses.

The generic play area has a window to walk up for a drink order.
