Your MRI doesn’t explain your pain. It just gives you an idea of your back looks like. As we age the chance of degenerative changes increases and is totally normal.

Answer this: prior to symptom onset were you meeting the minimum ACSM guidelines for exercise? Are you overweight? Did you regularly participate in resistance training?

There is so much that goes into a back injury, but also 70-90% of cases of non-mechanical back injuries, resolve themselves without the need for excessive movement imaging, injections, and surgeries
Very well-composed information here.

In my case, I had been aggressively exercising daily and developed a serious bout of sciatica. I was not stretching.

Once I began the correct stretching regimen, my pain level has diminished to a niggling inconvenience.

Back pain has ruined my life.

I'm almost 6 weeks in to my recovery from a microdiscectomy/laminectomy. I have had 0 pain since the second I woke up from anesthesia. It has been years since I was not in some degree of pain from my back. It is really a debilitating thing.

It is so hard not to overdue things because of how much better I feel. Unfortunately, my leg is still numb and I have a mild drop foot. Time will tell if that will improve, but as long as I don't have the pain I don't care.

How many steps do you walk a day? If under 10,000, the first thing you need to do is start building up to that. Then you need to work your core but don’t do anything that causes extra pain. Once you build up some strength you’ll be able to add more.

A chiropractor used a technique called dry needling on me a couple of years ago. Bulging disc C6-C7 due to degenerative changes. Two sessions of that cleared it up.

PT can be very helpful. That is always a good thing to try first.

Unless you have something a like a bulging/herniated disc. There’s nothing you can really do.

Stretching is very important and relives a lot of pain. Esp the quads and hamstrings. It’s annoying but taking 10/15 min to stretch is worth it and does wonders. I had to learn that the hard way.

A foam roller is good thing to buy to help with this also.

Thoughts on Regenerative Therapy?

Someone recently posted on the health/fitness board about their experience with Platelet Rich Plasma injections to treat back pain. It is a form of RT. LINK

Can recommend taking your MRI graphs to Dr. Goehry of Airrosti in west Katy just off I-10.

He'll shoot straight and take a conservative tack. If he thinks he can help through stretches and PT,
he will. And if not he'll offer his opinion on available options.

Good guy.
