I mean you get what you pay for. We continue to pay cops shite salaries and treat them the way society does, you have to expect to get worse and worse candidates. It’s common sense.

You think people with clean records are applying since the current chief got his job by agreeing to can two officers cleared of wrongdoing?

And honestly I’m not surprised that officers are retiring and finding other jobs.
It’s just between Broome/Paul and then craziness inside the department, even good officers want nothing to do with police work anymore

And that is what is disconcerting. Any competent police department has standards for hiring practices.
In other out of state jurisdictions, if a misdemeanor is found on an AFIS check that would be grounds for a DQ during the application process.
Cleaning applicant records, like was was discussed in the aforementioned, is an extreme liability.

I mean, why not? It appears that the quality of applicant they're hiring today is going to end up with a record by the time it's all over. Hiring people with pre-existing records is just proactive human resources.

I'm pretty sure this is 100% true. I was informed that they are hiring nob violent convicted felons as long as the applicant can get their record expunged. Clown world

Cops shoot a LOT of dogs, yet mailmen and delivery drivers have never been killed by one. This cop was responding to a medical call, which makes it even more ridiculous.
