Outside of maybe hardlegging the LLOTOTs there are dozens of other forums that deal with pretty much everything discussed on here.

in this day and age, why, of all places would anyone come to TD to get travel advice?
Because you get multiple opinions from people who have been there? Doesn't seem like too difficult of a concept.

Therefore, I rather ask someone on this board for travel advice then to search the internet for opinions from people that I don't even know.

True, but if I'm going to Thailand and want the best tattoo from a Buddhist Monk, this is probably the last place I would ask

Why would I go to another forum? I'm already on here and can get the same information from people I know or am familiar with.

I've had numerous travel-related issues that I've resolved on TD.

This is a surprise. I thought it was common knowledge that Brother Padungchira was the most reputable tattoo monk in lower Bangkok. How silly of me.

If I wasn't so busy editing, indexing, and filing my photos from Rome, Venice, Florence, Munich, Prague, Budapest, Vienna, and Salzburg while simultaneously planning, packing, and preparing for a trip to Sydney, Melbourne, and Hunter Valley, Australia, I would give you a piece of my mind.

You can generally get 100x better information from dozens of people who live in an area, or make their living traveling there than someone on the OT.

The OT or OB aren't bad sources of information about traveling, but second rate to other forums that specialize in such.

The weekly "what to do in Las Vegas" ain't bad but if you're traveling abroad, you'll find better info elsewhere.

I understand that, but I also realize there are MANY people on here that travel for work or live elsewhere and like I said, I'm already on here. I'm not going to make an account for a forum based in Thailand just because I'm going to Thailand. There are enough people on here who've been there and can give me the jist of the situation.

I'm just using Thailand as an example, I'm going to Trinidad. (Now that's a subtle brag.)

Of course you can, but the OT isn't a bad place to start. I don't think people come here and plan their entire itinerary on OT advice.

Not looking to pick a fight or anything , but starting a new thread about attention-whoring could, in and of itself, be considered attention-whoring.

You might be right to a certain extent but there have also been some very valuable "what to do in xxx city" threads on this board that many a person probably has bookmarked.

Even if posters are attention whoring this way it isn't necessarily a bad thing.

Sort of like if I want to learn about Lesbian anal insertions, the OT is not a bad place to start, but for detailed info I should go somewhere else

think again

I think some people intentionally follow what they know is bad advice from the OT, just so they can come back on here to start a thread about it
