Yeah I get it. Overly sentimental. That's just how I'm feeling though. I think it's age. I'm so old I feel like I've lived three separate lives, this last one has been the best, and I don't want to give it up.I just want things to stop. But I get your skepticism. Maybe I should have written a letter to Oprah instead.

While the loss of innocence is depressing, at least they know who has been paying the freight now.

Pimp and 91, my sons are 15 and 17, and I miss the magic as well, but time moves on, and we learn to deepen our relationships with them in a new way.

Mine are 22 and 16. This will be the first year that we wrap everything. I feel like we held on long enough.

The way we had it set up growing up is that my mom would wrap the gifts from her and I would get those Christmas eve. Santa's stuff wasn't wrapped and got it Christmas morning. This was always the bigger gifts. When I got too old for Santa we still did the same thing we just didnt pretend like it was from Santa. Now Christmas morning is just for the kids.

We did this until I moved out

All of our "big ticket" presents were hidden until Xmas morning.

Don't worry, once those teens get married, they will bring home rug rats. I'm blessed with one grandson and Santa is back.

This.

As kids get older you will start new family Christmas traditions.

We make and decorate Christmas cookies then watch Christmas Vacation. Good times.

I'm not sure life will be as perfectly sweet as it has been having young children. Being a parent has been the greatest pleasure of my life. Making it "magic" for the kids has been a gift to me, much more than to them. Whatever I gave them, they have returned ten-fold to me. I am now more aware of the cruel passage of time, how blessed I have been since these wonderful little humans began calling me "Daddy", and how short my time on Earth is becoming, than ever before. Savor every beautiful moment with your children. Merry Christmas.

Well, that was depressing.

Thanks, Obama.

My mother, to this day, still puts "From: Santa" on 1 or 2 presents for my me, my wife and our teenagers.

Same here. The rule at my mom's house is, if you sleep over, then Santa comes to see you. Since we're actually traveling on Christmas Day and getting in late, Santa is making a special trip and we'll get presents on 12/26.

I will share with the board that my mom made me an Easter Basket until I was well into college.

So you have another holiday to milk a tradition a little longer.

For my mom though, she knew I was never a big candy hound, so it was really a way to give herself a ton of chocolate.

This resulted in two things: 1. A modestly improved mother-son relationship, 2. Adult onset diabetes for her.

Mine are 5 and 2. Can't wait for tonight/tomorrow morning!

And, trust me, I do savor every moment. If there is such a thing as loving your kids too much, I do.
