NOLA.com - Cutting holes in levees has created more land than expected south of Venice
"There aren't many state projects that come in under budget and over-deliver, but the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries is touting one that should have every resident excited about large-scale sediment diversions that will be installed in Plaquemines Parish in the next decade."

So how much money was spent on doing this????
Another 'stopping' nature project that will eventually be a waste. Same can be said for rebuilding New Orleans.

How is it 'stopping nature'? Nature breaches levees all the time. The project has actually created land, and you're bitching about it.
Just stop.

They've known about this land creating thingy for years. Blow up the MS/Atchafalaya levees and in 10 years we'll be the size of Texas.

The Atchafalaya is already building land at the delta, and that region is probably the only region in the state that is not subsiding. The entire Mississippi River Basin below Baton Rouge is slowly subsiding. Maurepas is becoming a brackish lake, and the swamp is slowly dying. The Atchafalaya isn't really experiencing any of those problems.

Study more.

Where is the problem going to come from? The geology and hydrologic connectivity differ between the two regions, and those are the main issues in the Mississippi Basin. Saltwater does not have near the entry points into the Atchafalaya Basin as it does in the Mississippi. Add to that the significant area within the Atchafalaya Protection Levees as opposed to the Mississippi levees...I don't think the threat is near the same, otherwise, I believe we would already see those affects.
Also, If it weren't for the Three rivers/Old river control structures, the Atchafalaya would move the majority of the water that currently flows down the Mississippi. Then you'd really see an issue in SELA.

This is quite literally the opposite
And its working better than expected, already helping wildlife reserves, and under budget.
