just throwing it out there - but yea, the bus drivers get a list of stops and who is expected at each.

Oh no!

I could have responded to well thought out posts that pointed out the flaws, if any, in my logic.

But you have posted worn out Star Wars gifs in consecutive posts.

It's like you've found my kryptonite.

How can I possibly respond to such creative intelligence?!?!

Naw, the bus driver is given a route and the door is kept open so the kids can jump out when they see their stop. No way they would put that much responsibility on the adult driver when there are perfectly responsible 8 year old kids to run this operation.

But a third grader should know his address.

How the frick was he able to tell the stranger where he lives if he doesn't know where he lives?

im not sure if walking home alone 3 miles is a safer bet, statistically speaking.

Contrary to popular belief, a kid can walk home without anything bad happening. Millions of kids used to do this before our country turned into a bunch of pussies. I think getting in a car with a complete stranger is much more dangerous.

Really?

I'm sitting here laughing at the people who just accept the kid's word about what happened.

Wait, wait, wait. The bus went by the kid's house three times? You believe this shite? What kind of fricked up bus route goes by the same address three times? This smells like bullshite.

Kid: “Uhhhh . . . uhhhh . . . it wasn't me. It wasn't me. It was . . . the driver, yeah, the driver. That's the ticket. I told the driver. He drove right by our house one . . . no two . . . no three times but he made me get off three miles from here."

Come on now..

Freaking scary if this is true.

I was talking about his claim that he was not accusing the kid of being a liar.

Can't be much. Based only on the looks of the bus drivers I see in BR, I wouldn't allow them to drive my dog around the block.

Based on logic and statistics (the same ones you used to note the safety of walking), I would say they are equal, if not safer to get in the stranger's car. Note I am not advocating this action, but if that Samaritan had been a criminal, the kid would have been in his car either by choice or force. If the kid declined, and the person left, the kid is still at risk of being spotted by a criminal, not to mention other environmental risks (hit by a car, attacked by a dog, whatever) associated with walking outside.

This is way off topic, though.

I'm not sure if this is true of most states but I know here in Alabama they have to obtain a CDL just like regular truck drivers.

Indeed it is but unless you've never met a child before, it should come as no surprise that a kid would do this even if their parents had told them to never do it repeatedly.

i used to walk home from school (2 miles) just because I could make it back faster than the bus. 8 - 12 years old at the time.
