Former cop wasn't at the scene. PT may have been in the impala.

Wouldn't surprise me. There has got to be more to this than just a case of road rage. Who is going to kill a man over a car accident? It doesn't make sense.

In certain cultures, it makes perfect sense.

Google boondocks "^#^*%a moment"
Aaron mcgredor did a great job with that series, and it illustrates the point comically for this tragedy.

This is the shooter. Might answer your question

Doesn't have to be all or nothing. Seems like he would have killed the officer earlier if he were really this intent on revenge and unconcerned with getting caught. But perhaps he knew that famous black New Orleans figure Will Smith was friends with a guy he thought killed his dad and despised him because of it. A previous hatred for Will Smith makes a bit more sense than getting that impulsive over a road rage incident.

Why should OP "stop"? He didn't create this theory. He linked the Nola article that discusses it. How about you just stop posting if you're too lazy to read the linked article which has even been posted so you don't even have to go through the work of clicking a link.

Why would Hayes remain at the scene if it was a planned hit? That's a shitty plan and a shitty area to do a hit on someone

This Hayes guy seems somewhat familiar with the legal system judging by persuing charges after his pops was murdered. He's going to lawyer up, claim he felt threatened for his life by Smith. Smith may or may not have a firearm on him or in his vehicle. I don't think this is an open and close case

Not saying you're wrong, but if that's actually true then that is by far one of the most ridiculous reasons to kill someone, especially someone that should never have been involved in this. Besides being a friend of the officer, WS had zero connection to this case that happened 11 years ago to my knowledge.

The article does mention Hayes' father being mentally unstable. I guess it's safe to say that was passed on to him.

Agree. Only thing is that I wouldn't have left the wife alive if I'm going to claim self defense

I think he is going to say Smith reached for something and he thought it was a gun so he opened fire. Smith could have been reaching for his wallet, insurance, etc....

Hayes better hope Smith had a gun in the vehicle.

Otherwise, it should be a slam dunk. Two eye witnesses (if it's true Pierre was in the backseat), one being a wounded wife.

Pretty hard to claim self defense when he could've just backed out of the way

Doesn't mean he won't try, especially if it being at night and him not knowing it was Smith. He can just claim Smith reached for something and he thought it was a gun after a heated exchange.

Smith's wife and Thomas could be a witness and say it wasn't a gun but his wallet. Again, we will never know and I am speculating like everyone else but it seems plausible to me.
