Live in gonzales and definitely don't want eatel but sick of cox. Rates are going higher and higher and now they are in contract debates with fox. Already tried the satellite TV route years ago but didn't work out due to sketchy service and going out during storms. Are there any other options available? Apple tv, Netflix, Amazon, hulu plus? Basic cable with hd antenna?

There is well-researched stickied thread on the Tech Board that discusses this exact topic. I did it and don't regret it one bit.

I'm sick of cox cable. I'm currently paying over 250 a Month. There has got to be a way to get it cheaper.

When I dropped cox cable, I did not really need an alternative as I never really had time for it anyway.

However, I have considered reinstating my Netflix account. I think services like Netflix are the best option and you can always supplement it with watching world news channels like Fox?CNN online.

The only catch is how important local news channels are to you.

I can't believe dumbass cox has gotten in to a dispute with Fox now. Saw a commercial during one of the NFL games this past weekend saying it will suspend Fox starting Feb 1.

What pisses me off is they keep doing this shite and act like it's the TV stations fault but there's only one common denominator in all this and its Cox. I'm having a hard time believing them and will be leaving them as well.

Just dropped cox when they had the dispute with nbc. Got a dtv attic antenna from Walmart for $40. Catch all the local channels is crisp hd for free. Signed up for three months of slingtv and they sent me a free Roku 2. Saving $80 per month. After three weeks I can't believe I Didnt do it sooner. Two disadvantages: only one tv with cable and no dvr. But with all the apps like abc, fox etc. you get to see your shows the next day anyway on the Roku.

God damn. I'm paying $25/month for Sling and even that is more than enough.

have you asked to speak to the customer loyalty department or actually even better the "retention department"

tell them you are sick of it and you want to leave.. they will get you a better rate..

but you must have all sorts of cable boxes and dvr options or something to be that high.. plus you are factoring in cable internet i would assume.. any ways call cox and ask to speak to the retention department because you are fed up and want to leave..

That's actually not the catch. You use an HD antenna for free local network channels. The one caveat being your reception is dependent upon a multitude of factors.

idk man, that $15 price tag for an antenna to watch them over-the-air is pretty steep

definitely don't want eatel

May I ask why? I'm. Moving to ascension soon and was planning on getting eatel. I Googled "eatel VS cox tigerdroppings" and everyone said eatel was awesome in previous threads.

I don't have cable in BR.

When LSU is on ESPN, etc., I watch it ESPN online on the laptop or hook up the laptop to the TV with HDMI cable.

I have not missed Cox cable TV at all.
