Thinking about purchasing a truck...what do you recommend?

I've never owned a truck before, therefore I have zero brand allegiance. I'm generally just looking for the vehicle that will cause the fewest amount of headaches in terms of repair, and hopefully one that will last a long time.

- New
- Under 35k
- 4x4
- Won't be my daily commuter (though decent mpg is appreciated)
- Will be used to haul motorcycle in the bed
- Towing concerns are minimal

A GMC Canyon or Chevy Colorado might fit the bill nicely for you.

Since you want to move a motorcycle in the bed, i highly recommend a truck with an 8 ft bed so that you can close the tailgate while moving it.

Do you need crew cab or will extended be enough?

I like my manual 4x4 Tacoma, but I don't think you can get that transmission with a long bed...at least not with 4 doors.

If you're looking for reliability and longevity go with a Toyota. A 4X4 Toyota may push your $35K budget, though.

Sounds like a gas powered f250 or GM 2500 would be your best bet for what you intend to use it for. Being able to close the tailgate when moving your bike and gear is a huge plus IMO. You should be able to get an XLT 4x4 f250 or equivalent GM truck in your price range.

at that price... gmc canyon no doubt. looks mean AF, and drives great. Also has all the options as its big brother the sierra, and looks the same

Renting a 2016 Frontier 4x4 crew cab now. It's the same noisy, cheaply built truck they've been selling for almost 10 years now. Everything about it is behind the competition, and I wouldn't touch it unless there was a really, really good deal to be had.

Nissan really needs to update it. I think they are competent truck makers....but for whatever reason they killed off the Xterra and are letting the Frontier just kind of die on the vine.
