I got it. A movie seems so trivial a thing to marvel at. Taken for granted. But was a new experience to an underprivileged child. It's sad and makes you appreciate things in a 'stop and smell the roses' kinda way.

I went from being raised in a one room shack with holes in the floor to now being in the 1%. I'm tired of people complaining about how life sucks. Change your attitude, change your life. Knowledge is free. No reason to not know what a strawberry is at the age of 15.

No.

You telling me I gotta feel sorry for a kid that claims they never saw a strawberry? That's a bunch of bullshite. Walk into a grocery store. Last I checked grocery stores do not check if you have money to gain access.

That's not a problem of being underprivileged, that's an excuse to continue being ignorant.

I get that you were just making a point but its not so unusual for a 10 year old has never been to a theater. What if their parents don't like movies or if the kid doesn't have older siblings

As shitty as that sounds. I went out out last night. Usually I'm the drunk pos acting a fool. Barely caught a buzz while I watched my people drink themselves to oblivion. Ended up having a good night. Get to my car and find out someone broke my side mirror. Dealt with that this morning with some jb weld. Go to the bathroom to drop one. See my friends dog chewed the frick out of the molding on the door frame. Something else I'm gonna end up fixing. I'm so tired

I worked with neglected and abused children for a number of years. It gave me enormous perspective. And once you have that perspective and learn gratitude for what you have, you are a hell of a lot happier.

It really does. Your mother must be an awesome person. If everybody would pitch in and do small things like this with the misfortunate children in society, the society could thrive and prosper for generations.

Heartwarming story, Mr. Wonderful. You're an a-hole, albeit a rich one.

My wife teaches non English-speaking students in public school. A couple are from South America, and their families are moving here little by little to escape gang violence. One's father is a cab driver, and he couldn't pay enough to the gang who runs the town, so they cut off his oldest kid's finger. Little dude is around 10 years old and missing a finger. They don't take it out on the adults - they punish them through their children. Sad world we live in. We gave one of the students an old Playstation 2 that was in the attic - you'd think the kid won the lottery from the reaction.

couldn't say how many years it's been since I've been to a movie theater until recently and that's only because a new place opened up near me, all seats are recliners, full bar and menu, and a waitress, don't even care what's showing
