America's top 1% now control 38.6% of the nation's wealth, a historic high, according to a new Federal Reserve Report.

The top 1% saw their share of wealth rise to 38.6% in 2016 from 36.3% in 2013. The next highest nine percent of families fell slightly, and the share of wealth held by the bottom 90% of Americans has been falling steadily for 25 years, hitting 22.8% in 2016 from 33.2% in 1989.

The OT needs to start sharing some of that money.

The reason that they have that is because they deserve it. We need to see that they get more.

I share it via trickle down economics with my chauffeur, gardening staff, private masseuse, etc.

I wonder how many people in the bottom 50% made 10% on their investment portfolios in 2016?

It's not really a surprise that the gap continues to widen.

I'd argue its lower than any other time in history. Medieval times few families controlled essentially all the wealth and that continued all the way until the industrial revolution. Then you had the Vanderbilt's and Carnegie's into the early 1900's. Gates and Bezos and that crews wealth don't even compare to those guys.

Well most people don't invest at all, so I bet it's a tiny %

I think that was his point. Hence why the gap keeps widening.

It's always cute when journalists talk about percentages of the "nations wealth" like it's some set pie that never changes in size, just percentages to each group.

I've got a job, roof over my head, food on the table, a cold beer, and an $800 cell phone to brag about it on. Why do I care if the rich keep getting richer?
