FORCE MAJEURES

LINK /

If you read the article it list all the companies in the Louisiana and Houston area that have massive production problems. BASF is the global leader in MDI, TDI and Polyol. Almost all foam, adhesive, commercial glues, insulation, sealants contain it.

Once you read that list of companies and what they make your going to see why construction costs are going to go through the roof if not shut jobs down all together. It will eventually start creeping into commodity prices as well

Oil getting back to 2018 prices is the cause of commodities like Lumber being 2-3x higher than 2018 prices?

Trillions of new money is being injected into the economy. That is the largest culprit. Oil is a fart in the wind in comparison. Oil was double its current price 10 years ago.

Most products I buy are made of polypropylene, prices have been going up crazy amounts every month. Just when it was going to hopefully settle, the freeze hit. It will continue to rise at least 2-3 more times.

Freight costs are running double what they were 3 weeks ago.

Wood and steel have been going up in large %’s too. Everything is going to start going up.

Every plant we work in have had units shut down and aren’t moving product since the freeze. That’s from Laporte to Freeport and there are way more in the same boat all around here.

No

Oil is not the reason for lumber’s increase. It’s been rising for over a year.
The lumber mills are most of the reason

Oil is not that expensive right now anyway. Not sure it’s really impacting much at this point

Which factory is responsible for making the fried southwest egg rolls that have been out of stock from Sysco and the other main distributor down here for the last two weeks?
That’s a real problem

Then don’t buy. Prices will come down. They can’t make you buy coffee.
