What if the EBR schools are doing the same thing and still can't get a decent score.

If?

Dutchtown isn't able to teach him fast enough. He gets bored in class and then into trouble.

He needs to be pushed, but there is no where else for him to go in ascension.

What's going on with my kids is the most important thing in my life, so why wouldn't I strongly consider moving back into the parish so that he can attend a magnet school?

Better than worrying about when we are going to get an outlet mall or another chain of kohls, best buy, and cracker barrels like you see every other exit from here all the way through Florida.
At least a nature center will teach the kids something rather than shoving a xbox in your face and hounding you to sign up for a credit card.

So all the permanent and indirect jobs created by those businesses and economic activity they generate are sub-optimal compared to a BILLION DOLLAR TAX for a hundred and fifty to two-hundred part-time jobs and a downtown theme park that most local residents will visit once and never go again, and schools will use as an excuse as a day not to teach annually each year?

You think that is a better idea than taxing a new city's business and citizenry to create public school systems with better outcomes?

Got you marked down, Bro. Russian, you wanna talk about low-information voters? Here's one you can count on your side, LOL!

He's in the camp for the latter. Crazy I know.
While he thinks he's making gotcha statements about EBR being slightly rated a C versus a D, he is unwittingly proving my point.
It is a crafty plan on my part to make him prove his position indirectly.

He's defending a school district where 80% of the schools are C-rated, D-rated, or F-rated.

I'm talking about the people who voted for more property taxes for public schools on the promise of "things will improve". They threw a shitload of money at the problem and things have shown marginal improvement at best.

Throwing money at schools isn't going to make kids smarter. Taking your communities back from the abyss and populating areas of Baton Rouge long forgotten and thus interjecting positive values by means of a better class of people will make the schools better, and the schools more effective.

What? It happens. I have a fast kid. I grew up in ebr and attended McKinley. I wish my son had the opportunity to learn at the pace I did as a child.

What you are describing is a need for Ascension to implement a GT or Magnet program...not evidence of the success of the EBR school system.

Yeah but I don't have time for waiting. That sounds like a good idea for someone with a newborn.

I ignored it the first time you did it.

I ignored it the second time you did it.

The third time was the charm.

You continue to fail to acknowledge the incorrect statements you've made in this thread. Why is that?

If I for one minute thought that the people of St. George would stand and fight and invest in their own place where they live, I might entertain the concept of St. George, but I know good and damn well they won't because they never have shown the willingness to do so, and there's nothing of significance to fight for anyway that a new Walmart or shopping mall build down the interstate won't give them just the same, especially when it's newer and shinier. If you can't find the reasoning or justification in fighting for the above assets, then what makes anyone think that people would fight for an area that couldn't even muster enough of a fight to save a damn golf course from being built upon?

I did however get beaten by 4-6 innercity kids (unprovoked) and witness a handful of those events in my four years there.
And this is a big concern for anyone. Unfortunately, it's not just a McKinley.

A kid brought a loaded gun to Woodlawn High School and that school is going to be the flagship high school for St George, so......

It's a societal problem.

He ignores the topics that are losing arguments.

If he can't win the discussion, he attacks the credibility of the opponent.

He has never, and probably won't, defend the position that EBR public schools are acceptable.
He can't.

Hey! You spelled it correctly!!

Now go find ONE post I've made that says I think EBR schools as a whole are acceptable. Just one. You can't do it because I've never said that.

You continue to prove your willful ignorance. Or, your willful lying.

Sure.

But, that doesn't justify the horrible performance of the rest of the school system.

If St. George pulls this off, St. George is going to be in a much better place than it is right now.
