Fact: the incidence of crime amongst a population correlates to the quality of its education
Fact: BR school system has many problems and could likely use more financial assistance
Fact: if "St. George" breaks away from BR, a huge amount of funding that props BR school district up to its already meager level will disappear, which will likely be followed by a drop in education rates amongst the poor and a sharp increase in violent crime throughout the area.
This isn't slippery slope bullshite. If BR and "St. George" divorce, get ready for a higher crime rate than we already have.

From a practical standpoint, that may be wise. St. George supporters thrive on the notion that an insular, downtown elite controls what happens in Baton Rouge. It's better, strategically, for the players in that downtown, elite arena to act as though theres nothing going on and that they are relatively unconcerned about the St. George petition drive.

This is from the SG website. Sounds like something on a conspiracy theory website. You guys are nuts.

I have a question. If the SG issue is solid and legit, then why couldn't they show up and drop their knowledge on ya boy Delgado?

They spokesman performs that job on a voluntary basis. When he was contacted by this group about that meeting, he told them he was going to be out of town that day for work. Rather than reschedule at a time when everyone could be there, they took the opportunity to make it look like he agreed to show up then just didn't show up. As I understand it, that's not the case at all. Delgado is easy to beat. All you have to do is let him talk.

How can you keep saying that when it has worked so well for central and Zachary? There are 2 good, recent examples of the success that proSG people are trying to achieve. It's been done already, twice, and it works. Did you complain like this when Central broke away? How about Zachary?

Zachary's been incorporated since the 1880's. What are you talking about?
